OVERVIEW

As an Engineer, Maintenance & Reliability, you will use your expertise in manufacturing plant engineering, reliability, and controls and systems engineering to help improve plant productivity and optimize manufacturing costs. You will partner with plant and corporate engineering teams, project leads, vendors, and cross-cultural virtual teams to deliver practical reliability improvements and build sustainable maintenance capability. This is an opportunity to influence equipment uptime, reliability, maintenance cost, and the way teams use data to make better decisions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reliability Improvement |  Approximately 75% of time

  • Develop preventive maintenance plans for packaging and processing equipment using equipment manuals, drawings, images, videos, and historical data.
  • Identify critical spare parts that reduce repair time while balancing inventory cost.
  • Support plant and corporate engineering teams in establishing best practices for equipment maintenance and reliability and build knowledge of key General Mills process and equipment technologies.
  • Build expertise in computerized maintenance management systems, including Maximo and MQIS, and maintain accurate process and system documentation.
  • Track performance indicators related to equipment uptime, reliability, and maintenance costs; develop data acquisition and automation tools and perform initial analysis.

Project Management & Collaboration | Approximately 25% of time

  • Support reliability improvement projects alongside project leads and help ensure delivery on time and in line with organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate with plant teams and vendors to support successful project execution and understand the impact of delivered work on equipment uptime and maintenance cost.
  • Work safely and effectively in a cross-cultural virtual team, share and develop best practices, contribute to continuous improvement, and live by General Mills championship values.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Production, Electronics, Telecommunication, or Instrumentation.

Experience: At least 2 years of experience in equipment maintenance and reliability.

Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience in the Reliability or Controls and Systems Engineering domain; ability to work with equipment maintenance data and performance indicators.

Soft Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills, learning agility, and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks on tight deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant certification in Reliability or Controls.
  • At least 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance and reliability.
  • Prior experience with computerized maintenance management systems such as Maximo or MQIS and/or reliability improvement projects.
