Annual Salary Range: Up to $140,000 plus Super

About the Opportunity The Java Developer will contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of migrated mainframe applications and related integrations. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, the role will focus on delivering reliable, secure, and maintainable software solutions using Java and modern API technologies. The successful candidate will have experience in software development best practices, automated testing, CI/CD delivery processes, and Agile ways of working.
- Technical Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and support Java-based applications and integrations, applying modern development practices, secure coding standards, and automated testing to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions. Collaborate with architects, developers, and platform teams to implement and optimise applications, contribute to CI/CD and deployment processes, resolve technical issues, and support continuous improvement, performance, and delivery outcomes.
- ·Continuous Improvement & Validation: Identify and deliver improvements to application performance, reliability, maintainability, and quality by promoting development best practices, reusable components, automation, and robust testing. Contribute to the evaluation of tools and technologies, support remediation of technical debt, and participate in retrospectives and root cause analysis activities to strengthen application resilience and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with product managers, analysts, architects, developers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business, customer, security, and compliance requirements. Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, provide regular updates on progress, risks, and dependencies, and contribute to planning, estimation, and delivery activities to support successful project outcomes.
About You Technology Stack: Java within Enterprise Environments - Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs | Azure DevOps, Jira, and Confluence Nice to have: mainframe or legacy applications, cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
You are an experienced Java Software Developer with a strong background delivering enterprise-scale applications and services. You have hands-on experience developing solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs, supported by a solid understanding of software development lifecycle practices, coding standards, secure development principles, and application performance optimisation. You are proficient with source control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile delivery practices, with experience using tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, and Confluence. Your strong troubleshooting, debugging, and SQL skills enable you to effectively support and enhance complex application environments.
A collaborative and proactive team member, you communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and enjoy working closely with developers, architects, analysts, and business teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. You are committed to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies and engineering practices.
Exposure to migrated mainframe or legacy applications, cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift will be highly regarded. Experience with performance testing tools, application monitoring and observability platforms, and messaging technologies such as Kafka, IBM MQ, or RabbitMQ will also be advantageous.
