QA Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Test Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test frameworks for web and application testing.

• Create reusable, scalable, and maintainable automation components.

• Develop automated regression, smoke, functional, integration, and end-to-end test suites.

• Analyze automation results, troubleshoot failures, and identify application defects versus test/environment issues.

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing.

• Continuously improve automation coverage, reliability, execution time, and maintainability.

API Testing

• Design and execute automated and manual API tests for RESTful and/or SOAP services.

• Validate API functionality, data integrity, error handling, authentication, and response performance.

• Develop reusable API automation frameworks and integrate API tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Collaborate with developers to identify API-level defects early in the development lifecycle.

Performance Testing

• Support performance, load, stress, and scalability testing activities.

• Develop and execute performance test scenarios based on business and technical requirements.

• Analyze performance results and identify bottlenecks across application, API, database, and infrastructure layers.

• Partner with development and engineering teams to investigate and resolve performance issues.

• Experience with tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, k6, or similar performance-testing tools is preferred.

Shift-Left Quality Engineering

• Promote a shift-left testing approach by incorporating testing earlier in the SDLC.

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, architects, and DevOps teams to identify quality risks early.

• Participate in requirements, design, and code-review discussions to improve testability and prevent defects.

• Establish appropriate levels of unit, API, integration, and UI testing within the overall quality strategy.

• Help identify opportunities to move testing from later-stage validation toward continuous testing.

AI-Assisted Testing & Engineering

• Explore and apply AI-powered tools and techniques to improve software testing and engineering productivity.

• Use AI to accelerate test-case generation, automation development, test-data creation, defect analysis, root-cause analysis, and test maintenance.

• Evaluate emerging AI testing capabilities and identify opportunities to improve automation efficiency and coverage.

• Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools is a plus.

• Experience with AI-native testing platforms is highly desirable.

Test Management – Zephyr

• Create and maintain test plans, test cycles, test cases, and test executions using Zephyr.

• Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, and releases.

• Support test planning and execution for major releases and production deployments.

• Ensure test cases are well documented, reusable, and aligned with business and technical requirements.

• Provide testing status, coverage, execution results, and quality metrics to stakeholders.

Functionize / AI-Based Test Automation

• Experience with Functionize is a major plus.

• Develop and maintain automated tests using Functionize’s AI-powered testing capabilities.

• Help evaluate and expand the use of AI-based test automation across applications.

• Contribute to reducing automation maintenance overhead through intelligent test automation approaches.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance/test automation.

• Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks.

• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.

• Experience with web application automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar.

• Strong experience with API testing and automation, including REST APIs, JSON, HTTP methods, authentication, and API validation.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, continuous testing, and integrating automated tests into CI/CD workflows.

• Experience with Git and source-control practices.

• Experience with test management tools, preferably Zephyr.

• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, and defect lifecycle.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex automation failures and analyze test results.

• Experience with Functionize is a major plus.

• Experience with Claude Code or other AI coding assistants; hands-on experience with AI-assisted software testing is a plus.

• Experience implementing shift-left testing practices.

• Performance testing experience using JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, k6, or equivalent.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience with SQL and database validation.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Experience testing microservices and distributed systems.

• Experience with containerized environments such as Docker/Kubernetes.
