Full description
Main Purpose
This role is the embedded business-facing BI engineer & automation partner for all functions including Finance in Mumbai GCC. Role holder is expected to be aware of finance the way the FP&A & Accounting equivalent role does and works the requirements bottleneck that slows delivery. It also owns the operational KPI framework — SLA tracking and the broader business-led portfolio the site is taking over from central digitization — and automates it so the Site Head has real-time, trustworthy visibility without manual reporting. Forward-deployed engineer approach, not a downstream report-builder, sits with the site team, close to the business problem, iterating fast, builds fast against real operational questions, with the central platform / digitization team for complex builds / data engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the BI layer end-to-end for the Mumbai GCC: build, iterate, and maintain dashboards and reporting (Tableau/Sigma) against live business questions, not static specs.
- Close the true bottleneck in the program — requirement definition — by working shoulder-to-shoulder with region and functional teams to scope what's actually needed before it's built.
- Partner with the central digitization team on data engineering, security, and architecture governance for anything beyond the BI layer — escalate complex builds rather than solving them solo.
- Drive quality and adoption of self-serve analytics locally, reducing manual reporting and dependency on the shared services pool for day-to-day reporting asks.
- Feed a consistent view of regional KPIs and data definitions back into the global framework, keeping Africa aligned with other regions/functions without slowing down local delivery.
- Gather and translate business requirements directly, rather than waiting on requests routed through central digitization.
- Own the KPI framework for the region (incl. SLA tracking), define what good performance looks like, and automate measurement in Tableau/Sigma.
- Lead steady‑state automation for finance processes (Accounting, Treasury, Controlling, FP&A) once projects transition from central digitization.
- Build and maintain BI dashboards end‑to‑end, iterating against live business questions rather than static specs.
- Ensure KPI and data definitions stay aligned globally while delivering fast, locally relevant solutions.
Requirements:
- 5 to 7 years of experience in BI/analytics engineering, with a track record of dashboards used in real business decisions — not just technical delivery.
- Finance diploma/degree will be a plus.
- Hands-on with Tableau or Sigma, and strong SQL — comfortable modeling data, not just visualizing it.
- Databricks awareness is a strong plus.
- Aware of finance and how FP&A/Accounting stakeholders think about numbers — able to hold a real conversation on what a metric means and why it matters, similar in depth to the FP&A & Accounting-facing role.
- Comfortable working with financial/operational data and translating it into KPIs finance and site leadership actually use.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, embedded within a business team, rather than inside a central delivery queue.
