Wabash Castings is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team and help drive the next chapter of a company with deep roots in advanced aluminum casting. The Opportunity Our longtime Engineering Manager, Dewayne, is retiring after more than 43 years with Wabash Castings. That's a pretty incredible legacy. We're looking for the person who is ready to build on it—not simply replace it. Lead and develop the Engineering Department Establish department goals and allocate resources Lead new product development and production projects Develop manufacturing processes and tooling Own and support gating and rigging design Utilize simulation and engineering software to solve casting and manufacturing challenges Lead and support continuous improvement and capital projects Oversee program management and product validation Partner with Manufacturing, Quality and other functions to solve problems Serve as a technical liaison with customers during new product development Own engineering change control Train and mentor Engineering and Manufacturing team members Have the authority to stop production or shipment when necessary to address a quality concern Help Wabash continually improve its technology, processes and engineering capabilities We're Looking for Someone Who... You appreciate that a great design means very little if it can't be produced safely, efficiently, consistently and profitably. Isn't afraid to get into the plant. You enjoy working alongside Manufacturing, Quality and Operations and seeing your ideas become reality. Has the confidence to make the hard call. Quality matters. When something isn't right, you're willing to speak up, investigate the problem and make the decision necessary to protect the customer and the business. Wants to leave something better than they found it. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 5–10 years of engineering experience, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment Experience leading people, projects and/or engineering functions Working knowledge of engineering software Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations and customers Experience with tools such as Unigraphics NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Minitab and Microsoft Office is preferred If you're an experienced manufacturing engineer who has been waiting for the opportunity to step into leadership, an Engineering Manager who still loves solving problems on the plant floor, a technical leader who knows how to develop people, or even if you're a proven engineering leader looking for an opportunity where your decisions actually matter...We'd like to meet you.
