L.L.Bean, Inc. in Freeport, Maine, is seeking a Network Engineer to support the design, configuration, and deployment of network infrastructure for new retail store builds. This role focuses on Cisco Meraki technologies and end-to-end store network delivery, from initial configuration through cutover and validation. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with Meraki MX, MS, and MR platforms, and can operate independently to deliver consistent, repeatable store builds.

This is a HYBRID position where the expectation is to work 4 days onsite at our Headquarters in Freeport, ME.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor employment visas for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Store Network Build & Configuration

  • Configure and deploy new retail store networks using Cisco Meraki (MX, MS, MR)
  • Build and validate store configurations using standardized Meraki templates
  • Configure VLANs, SSIDs, switch ports, firewall rules, and SD-WAN settings
  • Ensure devices are properly claimed, licensed, and assigned in the Meraki Dashboard

Pre-Deployment Engineering

  • Create and configure store network IP space and subnets in IPAM platforms (e.g., Infoblox)
  • Develop configuration standards for store builds (naming conventions, VLAN structure, port mappings)
  • Validate equipment inventory and readiness prior to deployment (MX routers, MS switches, MR access points)

Deployment & Turn-Up Support

  • Support rack and stack activities including switch, AP, and router configuration
  • Perform remote or onsite validation of network connectivity and services
  • Coordinate with field teams, vendors, and store stakeholders during installation and cutover

Operational Validation & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, wireless, and VPN issues during and after deployment
  • Validate end-to-end functionality (WAN, LAN, wireless, voice, and utility networks)
  • Monitor and resolve issues using Meraki Dashboard and network tools

Lifecycle & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate documentation for store configurations, topology, and standards
  • Verify configuration compliance across deployments and remediate variances
  • Track deployment progress and provide status updates to project stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of network engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki (MX, MS, MR)
  • Experience with VLANs, routing, DHCP, DNS, VPN and wireless
  • Knowledge of firewall and security policy configuration
  • Familiarity with cloud-managed networking

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with retail or branch network rollouts
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation or repeatable deployments
  • Familiarity with Infoblox and service management tools
  • Experience with Arista and Zscaler would be very beneficial

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Regular regional travel between assigned sites or other facilities.
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and working in equipment/wiring areas.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of hardware and cabling materials.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (up to ~50 lbs), work in wiring closets and stockrooms, and use ladders/lifts as needed.
  • Valid driver's license (annual driver history check) and ability to travel between sites within the assigned region.
  • Expectation to be onsite 4 days per week in Freeport, ME

L.L.Bean uses a market-based compensation approach. The anticipated starting base pay for this position is $98,100-$122,600. Individual compensation may vary based on factors such as a candidate’s experience, qualifications, education, geographic location, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
