Job Description

  • Support the Product Owner across the commercial product lifecycle, and own delegated features or customer journeys end to end under the Senior Product Manager’s supervision.
  • Draft Commercial Screens for new ideas — problem, incumbent, wedge, size, first-cut economics — to a standard the Senior Product Manager can challenge and take forward.
  • Write user stories and acceptance criteria to the standard set in the Product Owners’ Playbook, including the commercial criteria: fee, commission and metric instrumentation.
  • Maintain the product backlog in Jira — keep it ranked, groomed and meeting the Definition of Ready before sprint planning.
  • Run competitive teardowns: test competitor products on live accounts, record tariffs, fees, limits and journeys, and keep the teardown current and dated.
  • Map customer journeys with Product Design and mark the money on them — every fee event, drop-off risk, KYC or limit friction point, and support contact the journey will generate.
  • Support the Commercial Model: gather the inputs, source every number, and keep the assumption sheet current with Finance.
  • Instrument and monitor the OKR metrics, and produce the activation funnel, CAC-by-channel and contribution views the Product Owner works from.
  • Coordinate UAT and acceptance testing — verify that fees, commissions, limits and settlement behave exactly as specified before a release goes live.
  • Support go-to-market and launch readiness: drive the checklist items to their named owners and keep the readiness picture honest rather than optimistic.
  • Represent the product in sprint ceremonies for the features owned, and escalate ambiguity rather than guessing at intent.

Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, computer science, statistics or a related field.
  • Other disciplines are welcome where numeracy and structured thinking are clearly evidenced.

Job Experience Required

  • 2–4 years of experience in product management, business analysis, digital channels, project delivery or a commercial role — preferably in fintech, MFS, banking, telecom or a technology company.
  • Exposure to agile delivery is required — Jira, sprints, user stories. Formal Product Owner experience is not.
  • Comfortable working with data: strong Excel, familiarity with dashboards; basic SQL is an advantage.
  • Strong candidates from consulting, analytics or a demanding graduate programme will be considered where the aptitude is clearly evidenced.

Required Capabilities

  • Writes a clear user story with acceptance criteria a tester can actually test.
  • Reliable with detail — the person who notices that the fee is being applied to the wrong party.
  • Numerate, and curious about where a number came from before using it.
  • Actively interested in the payments market: uses the competitor products personally and follows what they launch.
  • Organised and follows through without being chased; says clearly when something is not ready.
  • Communicates plainly and comfortably with engineers, designers and commercial colleagues.
  • Wants to become a Product Owner, and is willing to be coached toward it.
