Farmer Mac is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Senior IT Portfolio Analyst to support the effective management of the IT portfolio and the Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). This role combines IT change coordination, financial and resource management, management reporting, audit coordination, process automation, Power BI leadership, SharePoint administration, and project coordination. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills and will work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The People You Will Work With

The position will report directly to the Director - Finance Technology & IT Operations. The role will collaborate with IT leadership, project managers, Finance, Internal Audit, External Audit, Cybersecurity, Development, IT Infrastructure, business stakeholders, managed service providers, consultants, and third-party auditors.

Where and When You Will Work

The position will be based at Farmer Mac's headquarters at 2100 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C., with the ability to work remotely. Farmer Mac is a Presence with a Purpose work environment, providing flexibility while creating opportunities for teams to come together in the office with purpose. Occasional work outside core hours may be required for planned or unplanned activities, time-sensitive projects, or off-site meetings and events.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • IT change management: Assist with IT change coordination to ensure changes to IT systems and processes are properly managed. Coordinate change requests, assess impacts, maintain supporting information, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Office of the CIO: Support and manage Office of the CIO activities, including planning, coordination, reporting, follow-up, documentation, and alignment of key IT priorities.
  • IT budget management: Manage an IT budget of more than $10 million, including budget tracking, forecasting, accruals, variance analysis, and coordination with Finance and IT leaders.
  • Resource management: Track resource allocations, availability, capacity, and utilization to support effective deployment of resources across projects and operational priorities.
  • Annual project planning: Play a key role in the annual project planning process to help ensure IT has the appropriate budget, capacity, and resources to deliver approved priorities.
  • Portfolio delivery coordination: Work with IT project managers and other stakeholders to track priorities, dependencies, risks, milestones, and follow-up actions so key commitments are met in a timely manner.
  • KPI and management reporting: Compile monthly Key Performance Indicators by collecting relevant data, analyzing metrics, and preparing reports, dashboards, or presentations that communicate the performance of IT projects and initiatives.
  • IT audit management: Coordinate internal and external audit requests, provide requested documentation, facilitate audit activities, track responses and remediation items, and support compliance with audit requirements.
  • AI-enabled process automation: Identify and automate manual processes using AI and related tools to improve efficiency, consistency, transparency, and scalability across IT operations.
  • Power BI leadership: Serve as the Power BI subject matter expert and lead the Power BI Community of Practice to mature adoption and utilization across the company. Maintain and actively advance the Power BI roadmap.
  • IT SharePoint administration: Maintain and update the IT SharePoint environment for all areas of IT, ensuring content, documentation, resources, and portfolio information are organized, accessible, accurate, and current.
  • Ad hoc project coordination: Provide project coordination support to the Finance Technology team for ongoing initiatives, including coordinating tasks, meetings, status updates, dependencies, documentation, and follow-up actions.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • At least five years of related experience in IT portfolio management, IT project coordination, IT operations, financial management, PMO support, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated experience with Power BI, including dashboard and report development, data analysis, governance, roadmap planning, and user adoption.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, particularly supporting change management, workflow coordination, reporting, or related IT processes.
  • Experience using AI and related automation tools to redesign or automate manual processes and deliver measurable efficiency improvements.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts, accruals, actual spend, and financial variances.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect, validate, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources to support decisions.
  • Experience developing executive-ready KPIs, dashboards, management reports, presentations, and portfolio insights.
  • Knowledge of IT change management, audit coordination, project management, resource management, and portfolio governance practices.
  • Proficiency with SharePoint and collaboration tools used to organize and maintain enterprise information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous learning mindset focused on emerging technology and practical business outcomes.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, ideally in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of related professional experience.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, CAPM, ITIL Foundation, Power BI Data Analyst Associate, or similar credentials are a plus.

Our compensation philosophy is targeted pay positioning relative to peers, our industry, and external markets. Farmer Mac is committed to a compensation program that will enable the organization to attract, motivate, reward, and retain highly skilled and creative talent to maintain sustained long-term performance and achieve the organization’s strategic business objectives. The typical starting salary range for this position is between $100,000 -$120,000, although wages can vary based on experience and geography. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience.
