SUMMARY: We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate technical proficiency, has strong verbal and written communication skills, and has the desire to learn and be involved in maintaining the security of our clients through the patching process. As part of Thrive’s Platform Team, The team is responsible for supporting internal staff and our clients in utilizing these systems to manage and support their environments. The Patching Network Engineer will be responsible for configuration tasks, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and creating documentation of processes when needed. This position requires working outside of normal business hours on nights and weekends as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
· Onboarding new clients. This includes creating policies to apply settings consistently over the client’s endpoints
· Troubleshooting issues with the patching process, including installation failures
· Performing regular maintenance of our systems, including patch approval and maintenance of 3rdparty patch catalogs
· Keeping up with education on new features to provide support and training to staff and clients
· Assist other team members with tasks outside of patching as time permits

· Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent work experience
· Excellent problem solver; able to resolve problems using analytical skills, technical expertise, event logs, or research
· Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or in a team environment
· 2+ years of Linux server and desktop support
· 2+ years of desktop and server support experience
· Solid understanding of Microsoft patching schedules and methods
· Solid understanding and ability to solve issues with:
o Fortigate Product Stack (Forti-OS, Forti-Analyzer, Forti-Manager)
o Meraki Cloud Dashboard
o Cisco Cataylyst, and Cisco FirePower , Cisco Secure Firewall Management Platform
o Palo Alto , Palo Alto Panorama Management
o Ubiquiti Remote Cloud Management
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to articulate technical information and convey it to non-technical people
· Excellent customer service skills
· Ability to work after-hours as tasks dictate
· Willingness to train, learn and educate others
· Detail oriented position requires high attention to detail
· Ability to manage multiple tasks of varying priority
TECHNICAL SKILLS: Broad knowledge of information technology processing systems, concepts, and methodologies. Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies. Preferred technical knowledge:
- Experience working with Fortigate, Palo Alto, and Meraki Firewalls
- Experience with Firmware management , and firmware upgrade task
- Experience troubleshooting network infrastructure equipment pre and post upgrade in live environments
- Experience with network switching from the following manufacturers Meraki, Forti-Switch, Cisco, Extreme, Arista, Aruba, and Ubiquiti
- Experience with wireless infrastructure , Meraki, Forti-AP, Ubiquiti, Ruckus
- Certifications:
- CompTia Network + (Net+) minimum
- Prefered but not required
- Cisco Meraki Network Engineer Fundamentals (CMNE-F)
- Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST)
- Palo Alto NGF Engineer
- Fortinet NSE 4
WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule for this position is set Monday through Friday, 8 PM to 5 PM EST, and may require overtime during off shift hours. Flexible scheduling as shifts may change to meet business needs.
