Summary

The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring transportation and logistics services for DSV. The successful candidate will ensure that all services are procured at the best possible cost, quality, and delivery time, while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Buying fixed & floating rate products & space commitments from ocean carriers in the trades between Asia & the USA; securing advantageous terms for DSV based on our buying power & establishing clear service level expectations with the ocean carriers.
  • Driving growth in trade volumes by acting as an enabler throughout the sales cycle; identifying & prioritizing opportunities which are the best fit for DSV’s FCL products; regular interaction with customers in both virtual & physical meetings; managing flawless implementations of new business with our ocean carriers.
  • Providing long-term, fixed rate, selling rate guidance to Branches, Sales & the Tender Teams for contract terms ranging up to 12 months’ validity.
  • Taking calculated risks to win new or retain existing business, either independently or in collaboration with Region/Country/Branch management.
  • Providing market insights & risk mitigation strategies to Branches, Sales & Customers, making DSV a ‘trusted advisor’ on the market & how best to navigate its challenges.
  • Allocation management: working together with the Customer Performance & Carrier Performance managers to assign customer volume commitments by carrier to deliver on our ‘customer promise’; holding Branches, Sales & Customers accountable to fulfill volume awards & addressing ‘ship-to-profile’ variances.
  • Optimizing yield by guiding Branches & Sales to implement the best combination of price/service/routing that satisfies customer requirements & optimizes DSV’s GP. Re-procuring buying rates &/or recommending increased selling rates where necessary.

Educational background / Work experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in transportation and logistics procurement, preferably in a global organization

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices and industry trends
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field
  • Professional certification in procurement (e.g. CIPS, CPSM)

Language skills

  • Fluent in English (oral and written)

Computer Literacy

  • Proficient in procurement software and tools
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and data analytics tools is a plus.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $100,000 - $140,000 / Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location and other objective business considerations.
