Job Description

This role is responsible for the technical administration, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the SAP systems to ensure system reliability, high performance, and security. You will work closely with the infrastructure teams, and provide application support to monitor and maintain the SAP landscape. You will also be actively involved in any technical upgrades, system migrations, transport management, and coordinating with both the internal team and the external vendors to support business-critical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Administration: Support the day-to-day monitoring and managing the overall SAP landscape, including performance tuning, workload analysis (ST03N, ST02), and system troubleshooting.
  • Database & OS Management: Administer the databases, particularly SAP S4HANA, including optimizing database performance, managing space allocation, and overseeing backup and recovery processes.
  • Client Administration: Execute local/remote client copies (SCCL, SCC9), client refreshes, and client cleanup activities.
  • Transport & Change Management: Manage the transport of changes using the Transport Management System (TMS/CTS+).
  • Background Operations: Schedule, monitor, and optimize background jobs (including housekeeping, spool cleanup, and performance data collectors).
  • Security & Compliance: Manage the user access, roles, and authorizations, and maintain security policies, to ensure system security and strict compliance with internal audit policies on cybersecurity standards, licensing requirements, and technical policies.
  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve complex Basis-related technical issues, providing root cause analysis (RCA) and collaborating with functional/infrastructure teams.
  • Connectivity: Configure and troubleshoot Remote Function Calls (SM59) and other inter-system connectivity requirements.
  • Disaster Recovery: Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, including maintaining high-availability and fault-tolerance configurations.
  • Vendor Management: Work with hosting providers, system integrators, and third-party vendors to ensure technical support is delivered efficiently.
  • Documentation: Maintain system landscape documentation, operational manuals, and perform regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of professional and hands-on experience in SAP Basis Administration.
  • Technical and hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA and HANA database administration.
  • Possess technical understanding of OS-level administration (Linux/Unix), networking, and infrastructure concepts.
  • Proficiency in performance tuning, client copy procedures, and background job management.
  • Good verbal and written communication and analytical skills to manage complex technical issues.
  • Experience working with external vendors or IT partners for system maintenance and support.
  • Certification in SAP Basis or related technical areas is an advantage.
