ABOUT THE ROLE

We are a growing fabrication company based in Dickinson, ND seeking Project Managers to own the day-to-day execution of our fabrication projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable on the shop floor and behind a desk - directing production employees, managing project schedules, communicating with customers, and keeping documentation accurate and complete. You will report directly to the Production Manager and will serve as the primary point of accountability for every project assigned to you, from kickoff through final delivery and closeout.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the schedule and milestones for assigned projects - maintain an accurate, up-to-date view of project status and communicate risks to the Production Manager before they affect delivery
  • Direct shop floor employees daily - assign tasks clearly, maintain floor presence, and hold the team accountable for progress against the project plan
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on assigned projects - communicate proactively, professionally, and accurately on status, schedule, and any issues that arise
  • Own material coordination on assigned projects - offload and verify all deliveries against the packing slip and Orca Scan before receiving, track all material usage in real time, communicate any missing or discrepant materials to Bid/Procurement and the Operations Manager, and complete a returnable materials list at closeout
  • Approve time entries in TSheets for all employees on assigned projects - ensure accuracy and flag labor hours trending over bid allocation to the Production Manager
  • Create and maintain Order Forms and Turnover Packets for all assigned projects - documentation must be current throughout execution and complete at closeout
  • Own quality on assigned projects - conduct checks throughout production, address issues as they arise, and come to post-job meetings prepared to discuss outcomes and lessons learned
  • Coordinate day-to-day with subcontractors on assigned projects - ensure they understand scope, schedule, and safety requirements before work begins
  • Serve as a frontline safety leader - ensure training compliance, report incidents immediately, address unsafe behavior on the floor, and actively participate in incident investigations
  • Participate in pre- and post-job meetings facilitated by the Production Manager - these meetings are a required part of every project, not optional check-ins

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in project management, production supervision, or a related leadership role within fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or heavy industrial environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule accuracy and quality standards
  • Strong floor presence and people management skills - comfortable giving direct, clear direction to production employees and holding the team accountable
  • Experience managing customer communication on active projects - professional, proactive, and accurate in both written and verbal settings
  • Solid organizational skills - able to manage documentation, system updates, and administrative requirements alongside active floor responsibilities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-change environment where priorities shift and problems require quick, sound decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in fabrication, structural steel, welding, or heavy industrial manufacturing - ability to read drawings and understand production processes is a strong advantage
  • Experience with production management and inventory platforms (TSheets, Orca Scan, or equivalent systems)
  • Prior experience promoting from a shop floor role into project or production management - understanding how the work actually gets done is a meaningful differentiator in this role
  • Familiarity with subcontractor coordination and client-facing communication in a project-based environment
  • Experience working within a safety-driven culture - understanding of OSHA compliance expectations and incident reporting obligations
  • Experience with cold-weather and extreme-environment operations relevant to North Dakota

What Success Looks Like - First 90 Days
