Full description

Wärtsilä is an innovative technology company known for being a forerunner in the Marine and Energy markets. Every day, we – Wärtsilians – put our hearts and minds into turning Wärtsilä's purpose of enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services into reality. Our ultimate aim is to provide increased value to both our customers and society. New, game-changing ideas and continuous improvement have been part of our DNA since 1834. Together, we can create new business opportunities and a more sustainable future that we can all be proud of.

We want to transition the world towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. By pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology, we can make it work. We are always on the lookout for future-oriented talent – want to join the ride?

We are now looking for a Cloud Security Architect to join our Cloud & Application Security Practice. The preferred location for the position is Helsinki, Finland, but Vaasa, Turku, or other locations in Finland can also be considered.

What you will be doing

In this position, your work will include enhancing Wärtsilä Cloud Platforms’ security posture. You will not be working on this alone - even though the work requires a high level of independence, as you will have the support of your colleagues. For us to be the best match, we expect you to have experience in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and Google.

As we are increasingly going for a software defined approach in cloud and applications, we need you to have exposure to software development. This work will include tasks in Git and on the software supply chain side.

As a Cloud Security Architect, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Act as the cloud security architect for projects and platforms, providing practical security guidance for cloud initiatives
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve security controls for Wärtsilä’s public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Work hands-on with development teams to strengthen DevSecOps pipelines with capabilities such as static code analysis, container scanning, and infrastructure security checks
  • Define secure cloud architecture patterns and ensure infrastructure configurations align with Wärtsilä policies and best practices
  • Use cloud security tooling to identify risks, vulnerabilities, and improvement areas in existing environments
  • Develop cloud logging, monitoring, and detection capabilities together with teams supporting our Cloud SOC

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Strong experience with public cloud platforms
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Ability to design secure solutions and also support implementation in practice
  • Development skills, including ability to write simple scripts or software, for example in Python
  • Suitable degree in IT, Cyber Security, or a related field
  • Curious mind and hunger to learn more

Why you and us?

We at Wärtsilä believe in empowerment, ownership, and taking responsibility for our work. We support each other’s growth, and co-creation is the true basis of our innovation. We have the courage to see opportunities and take initiative.

We are authentic and honest, and we strongly believe in a diverse and inclusive work community where everyone can be their true self. We don’t always get it right the first time, and if mistakes are made, we make sure to learn and grow from them. We want everyone to voice their opinions freely. That is why we have built an environment that empowers you and everyone around you, and where you can feel safe and cared for. Are you eager to be part of this ambition?

We have an amazing team, and we are excited about our work and the impact it has on building sustainable societies. We are looking to find a colleague with this shared passion for smart technologies and a sustainable future.

The work in our team offers a wide range of interesting projects and the possibility to work with state-of-the-art tools for cloud and application security.
