Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java or Go.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience managing a security team or as a technical lead for a security team.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and coordinate a wide portfolio of projects that improve security and trust in Gmail. This includes building and extending the necessary security mechanism to unblock major Workspace-wide initiatives.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Lead multiple key initiatives to improve security and user trust across Gmail, partnering with our team leads.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationship with other email providers and large senders, driving adoption of new standards and practices to improve security.
  • Own the improvement, hardening, modernization and maintenance of critical security mechanisms such as Keystore, RPC Security Policy, BCID, etc. Lead the team towards a secure rollout of Country-Level Data regions by extending these technologies.
  • Collaborate with Workspace Abuse & Safety Protections (WASP) to reduce abuse in Gmail, driving down the rate of user reports. Lead efforts to ensure the ongoing DevAI revolution does not lead to more insecure, low-quality code.
  • Manage a team of software engineers, investing in their growth and performance management.
