Full description

Shalion is a data and insights-driven company that serves world-class manufacturers and brands globally. Through our Digital Shelf Optimization, Retail Media, and Food Service Aggregators solutions, we provide innovative tools for e-commerce monitoring.

At Shalion, we empower brands to make smarter business decisions in eCommerce by delivering actionable data and insights on online product prices, availability, share of search, and more. We operate across 1000+ e-retailers in 60+ countries, serving industry giants such as Heineken, Lego, Danone, Nestlé, and JDE.

As a leader in data intelligence, we specialize in gathering, analyzing, and applying proprietary artificial intelligence to deliver relevant data and monitoring tools, helping our clients maximize their e-commerce performance.

The role

As a Data Platform Engineer at Shalion, you will own the foundations the rest of the data organization depends on every day: our Snowflake platform, our AWS lakehouse built on Iceberg tables, our Airflow orchestration layer, and the Terraform code that provisions all of it.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve our Snowflake platform: warehouses, databases, storage integrations, stages, external tables, shares and network policies.
  • Design and maintain our access model: role hierarchies, grants and least-privilege permissions for people, service users and external partners.
  • Manage the platform as code with Terraform, reviewed in pull requests and deployed through GitHub Actions.
  • Operate our AWS lakehouse: ingestion of parquet files and Iceberg tables from S3, plus the IAM plumbing that connects AWS and Snowflake safely.
  • Orchestrate and harden pipelines in Apache Airflow, and drive reliability and cost efficiency with Synq and SELECT.dev.
  • Apply security and governance best practices: authentication, secret management, naming conventions and clear data ownership.

Your profile should include the following:

  • 3+ years of experience in data platform, data engineering, or platform/infrastructure roles in production.
  • Hands-on Snowflake or similar experience as a platform, not only as a SQL engine: you know what storage integrations, stages, shares, warehouses and the RBAC model are and when to use each.
  • Solid experience with Terraform or equivalent IaC.
  • Experience with Apache Airflow or a comparable orchestrator, including operating it and not only writing DAGs.
  • Experience with AWS (S3, IAM) and working knowledge of what Iceberg tables are and how they fit into a lakehouse.
  • Daily usage of GitHub for version control and CI/CD, and a security-first mindset.
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Languages: Fluent in Spanish and English B1 or higher.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Hands-on experience with Iceberg tables on AWS (Glue Catalog, Lake Formation, S3 Tables, Athena or Snowflake Iceberg).
  • Experience with data observability or Snowflake cost tooling such as Synq, Monte Carlo or SELECT.dev.
  • Experience with dbt, Airbyte, or containerized workloads (Docker).
  • Experience using AI coding assistants to increase your leverage, with good judgment when reviewing generated code.
  • Proven experience designing roles and permissions, and a genuine interest in data governance.
  • Experience with SQL and Python
