Job Overview
Job Title: Journeyman Network Engineer
Location: Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington
Job Responsibilities
Trace Systems is seeking a Journeyman Network Engineer to provide Tier II network infrastructure and operational support for EACN at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. This mission-essential position supports classified and unclassified A2G2 services in a 24/7/365 operating environment. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.
- Configure, implement, and support EACN LAN/WAN infrastructure, operating systems, and computer data exchange requirements.
- Troubleshoot, repair or replace, configure, monitor, and upgrade classified and unclassified network equipment and systems.
- Support replacement of end-of-life hardware and software and perform approved installation, transition, and cutover activities.
- Review installation progress for accuracy, adherence to network design, and conformance with telecommunications standards.
- Support and maintain A2G2 hardware configurations and approved site-installation requirements.
- Configure and maintain network security, monitoring, and analytics tools, including ServiceNow, SolarWinds, and Splunk.
- Implement and report USCYBERCOM, DISA, and Air Force tasking orders and STIG requirements.
- Validate security changes in the test environment before operational implementation and provide compliance status to Government engineers and the ISSM.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
- Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
- Candidates must meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role. DoD 8140 Work Role(s): 441 Network Operations Specialist, Proficiency Level: Intermediate; and may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
- Qualifying credentials include a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity or Data Science or Information Systems or Information Technology or Software Engineering or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
- Qualifying certifications may include CEH, Cloud+, GCIH, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
- 3+ years of network administration or engineering experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN environments.
- Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, or ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
- DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
- Experience with Cisco routing and switching, network monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and DISA STIG compliance.
- Ability to work assigned shifts, weekends, and federal holidays in support of 24/7/365 mission operations.
Desired Qualification
- Experience supporting EACN, A2G2, Air Force networks, classified systems, or 24/7 network operations.
- Experience with SolarWinds, Splunk, ServiceNow, network-security tools, and telecommunications cutovers.
- Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
- Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field preferred.
