BizFirst is assisting our client with recruiting a skilled and experienced Cloud Software Engineer. This position supports the following program: an enterprise engineering program that supports signals intelligence (SIGINT) mission systems through cloud infrastructure, AI/ML-driven software, and modernization of data dissemination processes for an Intelligence Community customer. The position is onsite at Fort Meade, MD, and the role is open now for an immediate start.

Our client is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that has supported U.S. defense and intelligence missions since 2012. Its systems, software, and data science engineers work side by side with government teams to model, design, integrate, and deploy complex mission systems, and the company also builds rugged RF hardware for specialized SIGINT applications. Led by a U.S. Navy veteran with more than 30 years of DoD mission experience, the company supports programs alongside many of the largest national security integrators and has a long-established presence in Maryland near Fort Meade.

What will you do

Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure for intelligence mission systems, and build the software that runs on it. You will work with OpenStack and comparable platforms in a DevOps environment, apply cloud security and operations practices, and develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems to documented requirements. You will review and test software components, recommend commercial or government off-the-shelf (COTS/GOTS) products in place of new development, and work with users and systems engineers to analyze performance, usage, and work processes. This role suits a certified cloud architect who still enjoys writing code and automating networks.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using

OpenStack and comparable platforms.

  • Work in a DevOps environment and apply cloud security

and operations practices.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems

based on documented requirements.

  • Review and test software components for adherence to

design requirements, and document test results.

  • Provide input to system design on software components,

including the use of COTS and GOTS products in place of new development.

  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system

performance standards and working with users and systems engineers.

  • Analyze usage and work processes, and investigate

problem areas.

  • Automate infrastructure and network tasks with Python,

Windows PowerShell, and network automation tools.

Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer

Science and twelve (12) years of software engineering experience. Sixteen (16) years of software engineering experience may substitute for the degree.

  • Experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud

infrastructure using OpenStack and other comparable platforms.

  • Experience working in a DevOps environment, with

familiarity in cloud security and operations.

  • Experience developing, maintaining, and testing complex

software systems to documented requirements.

  • Certified AWS or Azure Solutions Architect (for

example, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert).

  • Proficiency with the Linux/Unix command line and

Python.

  • Experience with Windows PowerShell.
  • Experience with network automation tools.
  • Ability to work onsite at Fort Meade, MD.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as

Terraform or Ansible.

  • Experience with Kubernetes or other container

orchestration platforms.

  • Experience building or operating cloud environments for

Intelligence Community or DoD customers.
