Full description

Lead the team building foundations for connected digital health.

As Manager, Software Engineering, you’ll lead a Sydney-based team responsible for audit logging and consent management within Resmed’s digital health platform. These shared services support multiple internal products and are expected to enable more over time.

You’ll guide a developing team of three associate engineers and one senior engineer, creating an environment where people take ownership, grow their capabilities, and deliver meaningful outcomes. This role combines people leadership, technical judgement, and strategic influence, with the opportunity to shape scalable platform services alongside product, delivery, design, and engineering partners.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of four software engineers based in Sydney.
  • Build a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and outcome-focused delivery.
  • Oversee the development and operation of audit logging and consent management services.
  • Guide engineers to own features from definition through to production.
  • Support frequent, reliable delivery while keeping processes lean and purposeful.
  • Partner with product, delivery, design, engineering, and internal customer teams.
  • Evaluate feature requests against the long-term platform strategy.
  • Guide technical discussions and contribute to architecture and design decisions.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable and reusable across products rather than designed for a single use case.
  • Operate autonomously while influencing stakeholders across functions and locations.

What You Bring

  • Engineering leadership gained as an Engineering Manager, Software Engineering Manager, or accomplished Tech Lead ready to move into people leadership.
  • A track record of coaching engineers and supporting teams with varied levels of capability.
  • Sound technical judgement and the confidence to participate in architecture, system design, and delivery discussions.
  • Knowledge of modern web development environments and scalable architectural patterns.
  • The ability to balance immediate product needs with longer-term platform priorities.
  • Effective stakeholder management across technical and non-technical groups.
  • Clear communication and thoughtful decision-making in an autonomous role.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to shared platform capabilities or services used by multiple products.
  • Familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes, MongoDB, or comparable technologies.
  • Understanding of event-driven services or cloud-native architectures.

What Sets You Apart

  • People Builder: Creates the clarity, coaching, and trust that help developing engineers grow.
  • Ownership Mindset: Takes accountability for outcomes and encourages others to own work through to production.
  • Strategic Perspective: Connects day-to-day decisions with the long-term direction of the platform.
  • Practical Leadership: Removes unnecessary complexity and keeps the team focused on meaningful delivery.
  • Collaborative Influence: Builds productive relationships and brings different perspectives together.
  • Independent Judgement: Makes considered decisions while knowing when to seek input or challenge assumptions.
