Job Description: This job is responsible for configuring complex software delivery automation. Key responsibilities include ensuring software deployments are configured to meet access, ownership, and authentication standards, providing technical direction within a functional domain, modifying code for software deployment automation, and overseeing software promotion pipelines for complex/high availability applications following Continuous Delivery practices. Job expectations include the ability to integrate development, testing practices, software delivery tools, and runtime application standards at the bank.

Position Summary:

The DevOps Lead is responsible for driving end-to-end DevOps enablement across all application environments, including development, testing, certification, and production. This role provides technical leadership for deployment automation, release execution, environment management, and continuous delivery initiatives.

 

The successful candidate will deploy application changes using enterprise deployment tools such as Ansible Tower, XL Release, Harness, Merlin, and other automation platforms. The DevOps Lead will partner closely with Release Management, Infrastructure, Application Development, and Support teams to ensure successful deployments and operational excellence.

 

In addition to hands-on technical responsibilities, this role will lead DevOps initiatives, drive team execution, develop metrics and reporting, represent the team in leadership forums, and support continuous process improvement efforts. Participation in scheduled release weekends (approximately one weekend per month) is expected.

Responsibilities:

• Mentors and clarifies issues and practices for DevOps Engineers by decomposing more complex tasks into actionable work units and deliverables and assigning the work units to an individual or teams of DevOps Engineers
• Responds to escalated events or issues from DevOps Engineers and creates issues and action-plan summaries for stakeholders
• Collaborates with Application Owner(s) on mid-term and long-term strategy for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tool adoption efforts across groups of applications
• Monitors and responds to aggregate alert trends across application and infrastructure key performance indicators (KPI) for the service supporting CI/CD services
• Works with Infrastructure and Solutions Engineers to prioritize and propose new features and capabilities for CI/CD service platform that fosters increased automation across a group of applications or line of business
• Responds to risk or audit identified issues with access control processed designed for compliance with firm separation of duties practices and software release management standards, and policies
• Works with Site Reliability and Infrastructure Engineers to reconcile and integrate planned CI/CD service platform changes across the monitoring, alerting, forecasting, and reporting functions
• Lead end-to-end DevOps enablement across development, test, and production environments.
• Execute and support application deployments using enterprise deployment and automation tools.
• Work with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments and cloud-based solutions.
• Support enterprise application environments including: WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, IBM HTTP Server (IHS)
• Perform application troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Release Engineering, Middleware Support, Application Support, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience supporting Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2025).
• Experience with enterprise application servers and web servers
• Strong understanding of enterprise web application architectures.
• Experience troubleshooting Java/J2EE applications and performing end-to-end application flow analysis.
• Knowledge of web communication protocols and technologies, including:
• Experience working with databases, including SQL queries and updates.
• Working knowledge of networking concepts, including:
• Strong Linux/Unix administration skills
• Experience with DevOps and monitoring tools such as; Ansible, BladeLogic, CA APM/CA Introscope (or equivalent), Splunk, Dynatrace
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

 

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with cloud and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platforms.
• Knowledge of additional deployment and release management tools such as; Harness, Merlin, uDeploy, Perforce
• Experience with message queuing technologies (MQ).
• Scripting and programming (Shell Scripting, Perl, Java, Python)
• Experience working in Agile software delivery environments.
• Exposure to infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform or similar tools.
• Experience leading teams, mentoring engineers, and driving operational excellence initiatives.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and represent DevOps organizations in leadership discussions.

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$119,400.00 - $165,500.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
