Accountabilities
- Partner with stakeholders across Operations, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain to understand business needs and translate open-ended questions into structured, testable data requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain governed dashboards, reports, and semantic models that provide consistent and trusted views of operational performance.
- Write and optimize advanced SQL, including CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and queries against large production and unstructured datasets.
- Build and maintain SQL-based transformation models as the analytics environment evolves toward Databricks and dbt, creating Operations-specific models on top of governed data layers.
- Contribute to metric definitions and data governance by establishing clear ownership, consistent definitions, and reliable sources for key business metrics.
- Validate analyses and outputs independently, identify data-quality issues, investigate unexpected results, and work with stakeholders to distinguish between data, logic, and underlying process problems.
- Maintain and improve automated data extracts used by Operations teams for their daily reporting and decision-making.
- Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate SQL, dbt, and dashboard development while applying sound judgment to verify outputs and maintain analytical quality.
- Clearly document data models, dashboards, calculations, and analytical logic so solutions can be maintained and understood by other team members.
- Contribute to the development of analytics best practices within a growing BI function and take on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in Business Intelligence or analytics, including hands-on experience developing SQL-based data models in a production environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong SQL skills, including CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and performant querying against large datasets, with the ability to independently move from a business question to analysis and actionable conclusions.
- Hands-on experience building SQL-based transformation models using dbt or a comparable framework such as Dataform or SQLMesh within a modern cloud data warehouse.
- Practical understanding of analytics engineering concepts, including staging and mart layers, testing, version control, and maintainable data transformations.
- Proven experience building BI dashboards end-to-end using tools such as Power BI, Databricks, Looker, or similar platforms, including the underlying data models and calculations.
- Experience designing dashboards that go beyond reporting historical performance by using drill-downs, cross-filtering, leading indicators, and threshold-based insights to guide action.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience gathering and validating requirements from both technical and non-technical business users.
- Analytical curiosity and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate unexpected results and determine whether issues originate in the data, analytical logic, or business processes.
- Ability to work independently in an evolving data environment where not every source, process, or requirement is fully defined.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting findings and explaining complex analytical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong interest in understanding how systems, processes, and data connect, with a willingness to investigate beyond surface-level answers.
- Experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, or another modern cloud data warehouse is a plus.
- Familiarity with Git or other version-control tools for analytics development is advantageous.
- Experience in manufacturing, robotics, supply chain, or another operationally complex, high-growth environment is beneficial.
- Experience developing semantic layers or metric governance processes across multiple stakeholder groups is also a plus.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
