Summary
The Technical Business Analyst will be a key contributor to the planning and implementation of IT programs and IT projects. This position requires strong communication skills to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization. This teammate will partner closely with strategy, development, and administrative teams to drive enterprise-wide initiatives. Within a complex, large-scale environment. Working cross-functionally, the Technical Business Analyst will collaborate with IT and key business departments, including Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Merchandising, and Sales, to ensure alignment, deliver value, and support organizational objectives.
The Technical Business Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, processes, and use cases to support the design and implementation of technology solutions. This role serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and third-party vendors, facilitating collaboration, managing requirements, and ensuring software solutions align with both stated business goals and evolving operational needs.

Business Analysis and Requirements Gathering
- Work with leadership and business units to understand business needs, elicit requirements/use cases and use creative problem solving to help identify and develop simple and effective solutions.
- Research feasibility of requests and help determine priorities based on effort and impact.
- Understand technical options, limitations, costs, and risks. Communicate tradeoffs to business partners and work with them to shape requirements/use cases accordingly.
- Translate conceptual user requirements/use cases into clear, detailed functional requirements.
- Work with business and delivery teams to prioritize requirements/use cases.
- Manage requirements and use case scoping throughout the delivery process.
- Create artifacts as appropriate, to include business case documentation, vendor evaluations including RFI/RFP documents, industry analysis, scope documentation, process flows, and mockups.
- Work with business units to define and document current and future processes and models to understand and address inefficiencies or gaps.
- Identify and assist in prioritizing opportunities to streamline business processes.
- Interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable decisions, proficiency with data visualization, and storytelling.
- Apply understanding of cost-benefit analysis and business case development to support value-driven prioritization.
- Translate retail business needs (e.g., omnichannel, inventory management, point-of-sale systems) into IT requirements that enhance customer and operational outcomes.
- Demonstrate proficiency in software development lifecycle, agile, and waterfall project methodologies.
Technical Leadership
- Develop and utilize deep domain knowledge and understanding of business processes for both guest facing and backend supporting processes -across all channels to identify appropriate solution options and build high-quality requirements/use cases.
- Work with technical teams to bring process and data into alignment for systems.
- Support technical teams as they develop, test, and deploy solutions.
- Review technical team output to ensure requirements/use cases are correctly interpreted; help define and execute test cases when needed.
- Work with data sources to analyze information and propose solutions.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of business stakeholder needs and the ability to prioritize work that delivers incremental customer and operational value.
- Provide support for rapid adaptation to competitive retail market changes and support for both traditional and agile delivery models.
- Focus on measurable business impact—sales lift, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction—rather than purely technical delivery.
Collaborative Responsibilities
- Proficiently communicate through cross-matrix organizational structure in supporting Corporate and Store teams.
- Act as a vendor liaison work with vendors on business needs to configure and develop features, functionality, and programs.
- Work effectively in matrixed teams, bridge technical and business perspectives, and engage continuously with business leaders.
- Possess strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Create training plans and facilitate training sessions for various departments.
- Fulfill mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Key Competencies
- Ability to gather, document, validate, and prioritize business and technical requirements from stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of software development, databases, APIs, system integrations, and technical architectures to bridge business and IT teams.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences while managing expectations across business and technology teams.
- Ability to use data, process analysis, and critical thinking to identify root causes, assess impacts, and recommend solutions.
- Maps current and future-state processes, identifies inefficiencies, and drives operational improvements through technology and process changes.
