Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

As Senior Data Engineer in the Investor & Treasury Services Data Engineering team within Technology and Operations, you will design, implement, and support enterprise data architecture and best practices across the global Investor and Treasury Services organization, aligning with corporate vision. We seek a strategic technical leader with deep expertise in modern data platforms to drive data infrastructure excellence, including Azure Databricks architecture, Apache Airflow orchestration, containerized deployments, Power BI optimization, data observability, and analytics governance to enable self-service analytics at scale.

As a member of a dynamic, fast-paced team, this role demands exceptional data architecture and engineering expertise, advanced analytics platform leadership, strong communication skills, demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers, and proven ability to multitask effectively in evolving environments.

What Will You Do?

This role encompasses end-to-end system oversight from data sourcing, lineage, transformation, and storage through Azure Databricks governance, data observability implementation, and Power BI analytics optimization to support complex advanced analytics and data governance needs.

  • Design & Build Data Pipelines: Architect real-time and batch data pipelines (inbound, outbound) leveraging Apache Airflow orchestration, Azure Databricks, and containerized solutions
  • Manage Infrastructure: Administer Azure Databricks clusters, compute resources, workspace optimization, and Delta Lake environments for scalable data processing
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Deploy and manage Docker containers and OpenShift clusters; implement CI/CD practices for data pipeline deployment
  • Data Observability: Establish comprehensive data observability frameworks; monitor data quality, lineage, pipeline health, and SLAs across the data platform
  • Cloud Architecture: Integrate data with Azure cloud platforms (ADLS2, Azure SQL); publish data through APIs and portals
  • Collaboration: Work in agile teams with Data Engineers, Developers, Data Scientists, and RBC business stakeholders on requirement gathering and solution delivery

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

4+ years of data engineering experience

Core Technologies

  • Data Engineering: Python, Apache Airflow, Apache Kafka, Microsoft SQL Server, Elasticsearch stack, Azure Databricks
  • Cloud Platforms: Azure (ADLS2, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL), OpenShift, Docker containerization
  • SQL & Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, stored procedures, query optimization
  • Data Orchestration: Apache Airflow (DAGs, scheduling, monitoring, operators)

Infrastructure

  • DevOps: Understanding of containerization, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code principles
  • Strong foundation: Algorithms, data structures, distributed systems concepts

Nice to Have

  • Advanced Automation/DevOps: Jenkins,, comprehensive CI/CD orchestration
  • Source Control: Advanced GIT workflows, branching strategies
  • Agile: Proven experience in scaled agile environments
