Full description

We are looking for:

a Senior iOS Engineer to join our Tech team in Romania. Whether you prefer remote or hybrid work #LI-Hybrid, we’ve got you covered! As part of the Framework Team for the Volkswagen app, you won't be building individual features only, you'll be owning the platform that makes every feature possible.  This is not a typical iOS dev role. About 60% of your work is enabler work, fixing CI/CD pipelines, driving iOS version migrations, refactoring code, defining architecture standards. The remaining 30% is feature work.

We are looking for someone who brings strong technical opinions and is not afraid to voice them.

Your Tasks:

Platform & Architecture

  • Own the iOS platform foundation | stability, scalability, and modernization across all teams.
  • Define and drive architectural direction; guide feature teams in making the right calls.
  • React first when Apple ships major platform, Xcode, or SDK changes and define adoption rules for the rest.
  • Evaluate and integrate large third-party libraries.

CI/CD & Automation

  • Design, maintain, and optimise pipelines using GitHub Actions and related tooling (mise, Tuist, fastlane) - ensuring every build is stable, every test runs, and every release is smooth.
  • Ensure code from all feature teams reaches the App Store correctly and reliably.

Shared Tooling

  • Develop shared modules and libraries used across all feature teams.
  • Collaborate with Android counterparts to align cross-platform decisions

Tech Stack:  Swift (principal language), Combine (reactive programming / UI-model binding)

UI & Architecture

  • SwiftUI - declarative UI, theming per brand, component reuse cross-brand.
  • iOS architecture standards and best practices, defined and driven at platform scale

Build & CI/CD

  • GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines.
  • Tuist - project generation and modularization.
  • mise - tool and environment version management.
  • fastlane - build automation and release management.

Your Profile:

We're looking for someone who is focused on code quality, encourages knowledge-sharing & someone's who fun to work with!

  • 8+ years of experience with iOS mobile application development.
  • Strong Swift knowledge and solid understanding of iOS architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with SwiftUI (declarative UI) and Combine (reactive programming / UI-model

binding).

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines - setup, maintenance, and optimization; knowledge of Tuist is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills - comfortable making, defending, and challenging architectural decisions at scale.
  • Proactive and able to work independently, with the resilience and patience to see complex, ambiguous

problems through.

  • Based in Romania (citizen or long-term resident).
  • Fluent English - written and spoken.

The mindset we're looking for:

  • You challenge decisions, offering arguments and alternatives.
  • You're comfortable with shifting priorities.
  • You are a systems thinker - you consider the broader impact of a decision before acting on it.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity - platform-level problems rarely come with a clear playbook.
  • Willingness to travel several times per year for on-site workshops and PI Planning sessions in Germany (Berlin)

Even if you don't tick every box on this page, you might be the perfect fit for the job! We value learning and growing - so we encourage you to apply. What we offer:

Impactful work: Your work directly impacts every team and every release. Startup culture: Small (~40 people) and highly collaborative team.

Full flexibility: Work remotely from anywhere in Romania. Core hours 11:00–16:00 (EET). Office available in Bucharest (Unirii area)

Travel: Quarterly PI Planning sessions in Germany (2–3 days)

Growth: Regular feedback, direct access to tech leads and decision makers. No bureaucracy.

We're looking forward to your application! Please include your CV, your earliest possible starting date and – ideally – your salary/fee expectations. See you soon! About us
