The Application Support Engineer / Analyst is responsible for the deployment, automation, support, and lifecycle management of the ROMeo (AVEVA) optimization platform and its dependent workloads hosted on Microsoft Azure. This role combines application support, cloud infrastructure engineering, and DevOps practices to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable ROMeo environments through CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and configuration management automation (Ansible).
The successful candidate will work closely with application owners, process engineers, cloud infrastructure teams, cybersecurity teams, and vendors to automate infrastructure provisioning, software deployment, system upgrades, and operational support activities for ROMeo environments supporting EMPS assets globally.
Key Responsibilities
Application Deployment & Management
- Deploy, configure, and maintain ROMeo application components and supporting software across Azure-hosted environments.
- Install, configure, and support dependent workloads, services, databases, interfaces, and third-party integrations required by ROMeo.
- Perform application upgrades, patching, migrations, and release deployments.
- Validate deployments through automated testing, health checks, and operational readiness reviews.
- Ensure application availability, performance, and reliability across development, test, and production environments.
Cloud Infrastructure Engineering
- Provision and manage Azure infrastructure including:• Virtual Machines
- Virtual Networks
- Network Security Groups
- Storage Accounts
- Load Balancers
- Key Vaults
- Managed Disks
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to standardize and automate environment deployment.
- Support capacity planning, performance tuning, backup, disaster recovery, and resilience activities.
- Ensure infrastructure deployments comply with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity standards.
CI/CD Pipeline Development & Automation
- Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated provisioning and deployment of ROMeo infrastructure and software components.
- Implement end-to-end deployment automation using:• Terraform
- Ansible
- Azure DevOps Pipelines
- Git-based source control
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, server configuration, application installation, patching, and validation activities.
- Develop reusable deployment templates and automation frameworks to improve deployment consistency and reduce operational effort.
- Integrate security, compliance, testing, and approval controls into deployment pipelines.
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Design and maintain Terraform modules for Azure infrastructure provisioning.
- Manage and version infrastructure configurations using Git repositories.
- Optimize Terraform deployments for scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Perform infrastructure lifecycle management including provisioning, updates, and decommissioning.
- Troubleshoot Terraform deployment issues and state management challenges.
Configuration Management (Ansible)
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, and deployment workflows.

Application Support & Operations
- Provide Level 2/Level 3 support for ROMeo production and non-production environments.

- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor application health, performance, and system availability.
- Coordinate issue resolution with infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure deployments comply with cybersecurity requirements and cloud governance standards.
- Support vulnerability remediation and patch management activities.
- Implement secure deployment practices within CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in security assessments, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Manage application access controls and privileged account requirements.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain:• Deployment runbooks
- Architecture diagrams
- Support documentation
- Recovery procedures
- Operational standards
- Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency improvements.

Work Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications in cloud-hosted environments.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on Microsoft Azure.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience provisioning infrastructure using Terraform.
- Experience automating software deployments using Ansible.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration.
- Experience with Git source control and DevOps practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
