POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you curious, analytical and motivated by the opportunity to turn complex data into meaningful business insights? As a Student Analyst, Business Performance and Analytics, you will play an active role in supporting BDC managers and executives through business intelligence, performance and financial analysis, as well as create dashboards that help guide strategic and operational decisions.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of data analysis, business intelligence and financial performance. You will contribute to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of analytical models, Power BI dashboards and performance measurement tools that support several BDC business lines, including Financing, Growth and Transition Capital, and Advisory Services. You will analyze and connect data from multiple BDC ecosystems, including loan portfolio activity, authorization volumes, employee and business unit performance, incentive plan models, and operational performance indicators.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, asking the right questions, solving business problems and translating information into clear, useful insights. You will collaborate with experienced colleagues and business stakeholders, deepen your expertise in tools such as SQL, Power BI and Azure Databricks, and gain exposure to high-impact business questions across BDC.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET
- Support the annual development and rollout of business line performance scorecards by turning strategic priorities, regional objectives and business needs into clear performance indicators and dashboards
- Support management decision-making by using models and reports in performance analysis to identify trends, highlight key results and provide useful insights
- Collaborate with the business line operation support teams to understand performance objectives and help design effective measures that drive business success
- Support the production and validation of quantitative indicators related to individual performance objectives, including financing performance guidelines and other performance measurement frameworks
- Contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of performance related data models, process and dashboards to help data integrity, operational relevance and financial accuracy
- Extract, validate, transform and organize data from internal systems and external sources while ensuring data quality, consistency and usability for analysis
- Use analytics and BI tools, including SQL, Azure Databricks, Power BI and Excel, to build, maintain and improve data models, dashboards, and reporting solutions that support performance monitoring and decision making
- Prepare analysis related to productivity, efficiency, costs and profitability to help inform recommendations presented to management and key stakeholders
- Support cost allocation, return on risk adjusted capital (RORAC) and loan-level profitability analysis to help improve the understanding of business performance and resource allocation
- Stay curious about available data sources, system definitions and best practices, and share ideas to improve the way the team works
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Currently enrolled in a university program in business intelligence, data analysis, financial engineering, finance, information technology, mathematics, or a related field.
- Candidates with strong analytical potential and relevant academic, internship or project experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience in banking, financial services, financial analysis, performance analytics, operations, market risk management or portfolio risk management is an asset
- Interest in performance analytics, business intelligence, data modelling, mathematics and banking business operations
- Strong SQL skills and good knowledge of data modelling, mathematics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Azure Databricks and Excel
- Ability to understand business processes, data structures and reporting needs, with curiosity for data engineering and data visualization
- Attention to detail, patience and commitment to producing accurate, reliable analysis
- Ability to organize information, gather requirements from stakeholders, ask good questions and communicate findings clearly
- Ability to manage priorities, work under pressure when needed and meet deadlines
- Ability to grasp new concepts quickly, apply feedback and contribute to continuous improvement and change initiatives
- Good interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Good oral and written communication skills in both official languages (french and english).
