THE ROLE

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will engage with business partners to determine requirements for prioritized initiatives and perform various analyses to help determine solutions. This role will be responsible for collecting, analyzing and presenting different analysis materials for priorities identified by your business partner. This involves collaborating closely with multiple constituents and senior management across the organization. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the analysis and development of cloud-based systems, tools, policies, and processes.

In a Senior Business Analyst role, you may lead and mentor a team of Business Analysts who will be working with various business partners. You will also help enhance the overall business analysis processes and skillsets to mature the business analysis craft within the organization.

This role is based in downtown Toronto under a hybrid work policy, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (approximately two days per week in-office). This posting is for an existing vacancy.

SPECIFIC ROLE ASSIGNMENTS

As a Senior Business Analyst you will have a chance to work with various business partners to support the organizational strategic priorities within Pension Services, Investments, or Corporate functions. Specific role assignments may include:

  • Pension Administration: to implement a state-of-the-art pension administration system
  • Investment: to work on various private & public investment management systems
  • Corporate: to implement foundational systems for Finance, Legal, People. & Communication teams

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Engage with business partners and vendors to identify requirements for key initiatives, including outcomes, objectives, scope, and functionality.
  • Perform and present analysis with appropriate detail and quality (e.g., business and functional requirements, requirements traceability, workflows, data mapping, current/future state, etc.)
  • Analyze and prioritize business requirements into various solution options by measuring and communicating the proposed benefits of options
  • Formulate analysis into reports and make recommendations to the team
  • Create visual representations to communicate complex concepts to various target audiences
  • Create “user” type documentation (e.g., employer kits, internal procedure manuals, standard operating procedures and process documentation)
  • Analyze existing processes and contribute to the improvement of current practices and processes by implementing recommendations in consultation with business partners
  • Coordinate and prepare comprehensive executive-level insights and analysis
  • Participate in testing activities as required (define approach, write test cases, execute test cases).
  • Perform data analysis such as a data profiling, gap analysis, and validation as required
  • Lead BA standards & practices and drive BA selection and planning activities
  • Coach and mentor junior BA’s

ROLE SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The following will be considered strong assets where role specific assignments are applicable:

  • Pension Services: pension plan administration systems & member services
  • Investment: trade lifecycle, trade execution mgmt. systems, middle/backoffice platforms & providers, risk management systems
  • Corporate: implementing or maintaining ERM, EDP, and HRIS systems

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree and 8-10 years of work experience in a business analysis role
  • Proven business analysis skills in stakeholder management, facilitating requirement workshops, use case creation, and requirements documentation management
  • Proficient in test scenario design, test case writing, and test management documentation
  • Adept at process analysis, design, improvement and process flow documentation
  • Experience in data migration projects to cloud based systems
  • Comfortable with quantitative and qualitative data analysis and tools such (SQL, Python, R)
  • Familiarity with relational databases (SQL Server)
  • Proficiency in MS Office, analytical software, data analysis and visualization reporting techniques (PowerBI, Domo)

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Passion for business analysis as a craft & demonstrated continuous learning in the field
  • Previous experience in a Business Analysis lead role
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional, CFA, process improvement methodology accreditation
  • Previous experience on agile teams (i.e., Scrum/Kanban) and BA techniques (i.e., story mapping)
  • Experience with tools such as Jira and Confluence

  • Remains alert to new techniques for insights, analytics, and data visualization, and devises new ways of applying them

EXPECTED COMPENSATION

The expected compensation for this role is an annualized base salary in the range of $85,600 to $135,600. This range reflects the expected range for new hire base salaries and is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

You may also be eligible for a variable incentive depending on organizational, divisional and personal performance. The final total compensation offered will vary depending on your skills, experience and other factors.
