The Law Society of Alberta (“Law Society") regulates the legal profession in the public interest. In alignment with the Law Society’s vision, mission, and strategic plan, the Applications and Information (“A&I”) department provides development and operational support for business applications and infrastructure, information governance and management, data reporting and analytics, project management, process improvement and organizational change management services to support effective and efficient business operations. The A&I department supports three distinct but related entities: the Law Society, the Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association (“ALIA”) and the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (“CPLED”).
The Dynamics 365 Analyst is responsible for providing application support for Dynamics Business Central and associated integrations to other business systems. The Dynamics 365 Analyst will also provide support for other Microsoft platform solutions such as Dynamics CRM, PowerApps, SharePoint, Team or business applications.
Success in this position requires significant experience with Dynamics Business Central but also with Information Technology Service Management including superior communication and time management skills, a proven track record in customer service, issue prioritization, problem solving and the ability to stay calm under pressure and deadlines.
Key Requirements
Your responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate functional and non-functional requirements gathering from business stakeholders
- Analyze, execute and sustain Dynamics Business Central solutions for optimal performance.
- Support integrations with Dynamics CRM, Power Platform, SharePoint and other business applications as necessary
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to prioritize, categorize, and plan releases
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on service and project goals and deliverables.
- Develop system documentation and maintain records of changes.
- Provide training and support to users
- Triage, prioritize and troubleshoot service requests
- Analyze, design, develop, and implement solutions using Dynamics Business Central, Dynamics CRM, and PowerApps
- Develop reports, tables or pages and workflows within Business Central to enhance user experience.
- Perform regular system maintenance and updates
- Coordinate with business and Applications and Information teams to maintain system security.
- Coordinate releases with technical and business teams
- Coordinate with vendors for support and ensure responses are falling within defined service and operating level agreements.
- Ensure that systems are backed up and able to be restored (working in conjunction with Business Technology/Infrastructure team)
- Collaborate with other members of team to ensure the system is secure
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Contribute to the continual improvement of technical support processes, documentation, and knowledge base to enhance efficiency and support development operations.
- Ensure data integrity and security within Dynamics 365 environments.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant business analysis experience
- 3+ years of relevant experience with Dynamics Business Central and integrations
- Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Certification highly desirable
- Experience with other Microsoft technologies like Azure, Power BI, and SharePoint
- Expertise in native M365 application integration and API development
- Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops and release management
- Proficiency in system and user acceptance testing
- Proficiency in C/AL and AL programming languages
- Critical thinking and strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting business processes and concepts
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Strong meeting facilitation skills
- ITIL certification an asset
- Knowledge of budgeting and reporting solutions like Vena desirable
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and project management principles
- Attention to detail and professional work ethic
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Strong ability to produce detailed functional and technical documents as well as user-friendly training or other materials as necessary.
- Be able to work as part of a team, including the ability to develop new working relationships, share knowledge and work with colleagues within the team to meet service standards.
- Be able to manage your own workload while working on multiple activities or projects with where priorities and circumstances often change.
