A Sneak Peek at Your Future Role
As a Senior Backend & Data Engineer, you'll build and maintain the backend services and data pipelines that power OneSuite, Performics' unified marketing intelligence and automation platform, fueling agentic workflows, data processing, analytics services, and channel automation across Search, Social, Programmatic, Commerce, and Measurement.
This is a hands-on, individual-contributor engineering role. You'll write production-grade Python code, build and operate Databricks and PySpark pipelines, and solve real distributed-systems and data-engineering problems day to day.
You'll build within the team's established architecture and medallion-style data patterns, bringing your own perspective and strong technical judgment to how they evolve, and raising the bar for other engineers through the quality of your code.
Here Are the Key Tasks You'll Be Working on Every Day
- Build and maintain data pipelines in Databricks and PySpark, implementing medallion-style (Bronze/Silver/Gold) architecture, with data quality checks, schema enforcement, and lineage tracking across pipeline stages.
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows that ingest, transform, and serve marketing performance data at scale, collaborating with analytics and data science teams on clean, well-modeled, accessible data assets.
- Build backend services and APIs in Python (FastAPI, Flask, or equivalent), working within the microservices, domain-boundary, caching, and queuing patterns the team has established.
- Build robust service-to-service communication (REST, gRPC, event-driven patterns) and integrate with external marketing platforms, cloud services, and internal microservices.
- Implement secure authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and multi-tenant access controls across services, following established security patterns.
- Write high-quality, maintainable, production-ready code; participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers through technical influence.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code environments (Docker, Kubernetes, CloudFormation or equivalent), implementing tracing, structured logging, metrics, and alerting.
- Optimize services for latency, concurrency, throughput, and cost efficiency; contribute to automated testing, load testing, and resiliency practices, partnering with SRE on SLIs/SLOs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and SRE teams on shared backend designs across campaign activation domains.
We're Thrilled to Have You Consider Joining Our Team. Here Are the Qualifications We're Seeking
- At least 5 years of experience in backend engineering, data engineering, or distributed systems, including meaningful contributions to the design of services or pipelines.
- Strong, hands-on expertise in Python, with experience in FastAPI, Flask, or equivalent modern backend frameworks.
- Strong, hands-on proficiency with Databricks and PySpark, including practical experience with medallion-style (Bronze/Silver/Gold) data architecture — or a strong willingness and aptitude to pick it up quickly.
- Solid understanding of microservices, concurrency, async programming, and event-driven architectures.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB, or similar) and familiarity with lakehouse platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS, including infrastructure-as-code tooling such as CloudFormation; GCP experience is a plus.
- Strong CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions, Argo, or similar).
- Good working knowledge of observability practices — logs, metrics, traces, and performance analysis.
- Proven ability to write clean, testable, well-structured production code.
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
Skills That Would Make You Shine Even Brighter!
- You have familiarity with AI/LLM systems and agentic workflow integration.
- You have experience with streaming or queuing systems such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, or SQS.
- You have experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or other lakehouse governance and optimization tools.
- You have prior experience with API gateway architectures, caching layers, or service meshes.
- You are familiar with marketing, advertising, or platform APIs and similar ecosystems.
