Job Description

Your Opportunity

We’re looking for a Product Manager, Payments to join our Payments Domain.

Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, Payment Services, you’ll be responsible for planning and managing the product roadmap and strategy across services including Direct Entry, BPAY Payer, BPAY Biller, RTGS and Chequing Services. 

You’ll define the vision, positioning and objectives for your product portfolio while ensuring each solution delivers value for clients and supports Cuscal’s growth strategy. You’ll monitor product performance, market trends, financial outcomes and client needs to maintain competitiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. 

You’ll also make an impact by:

  • Owning and managing the product roadmap, strategy and backlog in line with business and client priorities
  • Assessing market trends, competitor offerings and client needs to guide product positioning and feature development
  • Partnering with Product Owners and squads to develop and launch products that support client needs and business growth
  • Translating client and stakeholder challenges into clear product enhancements, requirements and priorities
  • Monitoring product metrics, service levels, costs, pricing and profitability
  • Developing commercially sustainable and scalable product solutions
  • Collaborating with Client Partnerships, Business Development, Marketing and Operations to support client growth and revenue
  • Managing product compliance with relevant regulations, legislation, policies and industry standards
  • Building relationships with clients, vendors, schemes, industry bodies and internal stakeholders
  • Representing Cuscal and its clients in relevant industry working groups and forums
  • Maintaining product documentation, sales tools, training materials and technical information
  • Supporting the annual budget process and identifying commercial efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

You’re an experienced product professional with a strong understanding of electronic payments and financial services. You can balance product strategy, commercial performance and client needs while working effectively across technical and business teams.

You’re comfortable managing complex products from strategy through to implementation. You take a structured and analytical approach to solving problems and can influence stakeholders at different levels.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • At least three years of product management experience within financial services
  • A thorough understanding of the electronic payments industry
  • Experience managing product lifecycles and applying product development frameworks
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex product implementations
  • Experience developing business cases for new products or product enhancements
  • An understanding of revenue drivers, product costs and profitability levers
  • The ability to interpret accounting and financial information
  • Experience preparing proposals for prospective clients
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation capabilities
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in a commercial or business discipline or equivalent practical experience 

You’ll stand out from the crowd if you have:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced payments product environment
  • Strong knowledge of payments, banking or enablement products
  • An understanding of supplier and competitor offerings within the payments market
  • Experience working with payment schemes, industry bodies or external vendors
  • Experience working effectively in a hybrid environment
