Fullstack developer with TypeScript, Video and Audio

Video and Audio team delivers Schibsted Media’s central streaming platform.

We have approximately 11 million daily video views and podcast listens and regularly cover live events with more than 100 000 simultaneous viewers.

We are responsible for all parts of the audio (podcasts, text to speech) and video workflow within media houses. This spans publishing, transcoding, and ingesting live video; enhancing video metadata; playback and monetization; and AI initiatives around audio and video (speech to text, text to speech).

We also own the user experience for consuming video and audio, and set the direction for how these services should evolve - especially as content rights investments increase and video and audio production continues to grow.

Our video platform powers sites such as vgtv.no and all the video and audio content you can find on vg.no or aftenposten.no.

The engineering team consists of a mix of 9 frontend/backend/fullstack developers and an EM located in Kraków, and a PM, UX designer, and data analyst located in Oslo.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You have a unique chance to join the team that has access to a huge amount of computing power for VOD/LIVE video transcoding, various video equipment and most importantly vast knowledge about the online video and audio world.

We follow best practices like unit testing, use different continuous integration and delivery tools (github actions) and utilize cloud platforms: Akamai and AWS.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a node.js (TypeScript) developer to join the team. You will take part in various projects and video initiatives driven by the Video/Audio team and our newspapers.

In this role you will be working with:

- Node.js (TypeScript) - React/Frontend development - Event-driven services (RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS) - GraphQL and REST APIs - Docker and Kubernetes

Nice to have:

  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL) and NoSQL data stores (Redis, Elasticsearch)
  • Experience with AWS Media Services
  • Any video knowledge (HLS streaming, FFmpeg)
  • Interest in infrastructure and ops (managing K8s)
  • Experience with Claude Code or other agentic coding tools

Please note that we are seeking candidates open to a hybrid work model, requiring two days per week at our Oslo office.
