Contributes to the protection of BMO people, assets and information by providing business intelligence and analytical services related to criminal, reputational and operational risk. The role requires a naturally curious and investigative mindset, with a strong interest in conducting thorough research, due diligence reviews, and intelligence gathering to identify, assess and communicate potential risks. Identifies, gathers, evaluates and analyzes intelligence data from a variety of sources, including open-source and proprietary databases. Conducts comprehensive background, due diligence and intelligence reviews to improve business risk awareness and reduce losses. Analyzes and synthesizes complex information, including adverse or negative findings, and provides clear, balanced summaries and risk assessments that enable the business to make informed, risk-based decisions. Produces analytical products and reports to establish links, sequences, gaps, trends and patterns, and makes recommendations based on analytical interpretations, inferences, judgments and conclusions. Produces intelligence products and reports for Management and business groups.

Responsabilities

  • Conducts thorough background, due diligence and intelligence reviews, leveraging a wide range of research techniques and sources to identify potential criminal, reputational, regulatory and operational risks.
  • Demonstrates a naturally curious and investigative approach, pursuing leads, validating information, identifying gaps, and connecting disparate pieces of information to develop a complete risk picture.
  • Reviews, assesses and summarizes adverse or negative findings in a clear, concise and objective manner, highlighting risk implications and providing actionable intelligence to support business decision-making.
  • Exercises strong critical thinking and professional skepticism when evaluating information, corroborating sources, and drawing analytical conclusions.
  • Undertakes detailed analysis of extensive data sets, public records, open-source intelligence and other information sources to uncover potential risks and emerging concerns.
  • Produces comprehensive intelligence reports that translate complex findings into meaningful insights, enabling stakeholders to make sound and risk-informed decisions.
  • Identifies links, trends, patterns and potential indicators of risk through detailed research and investigative analysis.
  • Extrapolates from questionable or incomplete data, validates findings through additional research and due diligence, and integrates information from multiple sources to produce accurate and defensible intelligence products

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and investigative aptitude, with a passion for research, due diligence, fact-finding and uncovering insights from complex or incomplete information.
  • Strong ability to assess, document and communicate adverse findings and risk implications in a balanced, objective and concise manner.
  • Experience conducting background investigations, enhanced due diligence reviews, intelligence analysis, or similar risk assessment activities is an asset.

Salary:

$45,500.00 - $84,500.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
