Since you’ve landed on this page, you already know Hedvig is a mover and shaker in insurtech, and think you might have what it takes to join us. We’ve been working hard since the very beginning to change an industry that is hard to love – to something at least likable. At Hedvig, we believe the only way to do so is to work with great people.
What about the role?
We are now looking for a Data Scientist to join our ambitious team at Hedvig, to solve complex business problems across the Hedvig using the latest advancements in AI and Machine Learning. The role involves high-impact work designing and developing ML models and agentic AI solutions for fair pricing, reserving, and lifetime value and more.
We believe, and know from experience, that we can accelerate faster by owning the entire pipeline from raw data to deployed model, reaping the benefits from developing with AI. Working closely with experienced backend developers, ML engineers, data analysts, and various business teams, you will have the opportunity to shape the data, tools, and innovative solutions that fuel our growth. This offers an inspiring freedom in what you will be able to create. In the role you will
- Be a driving force in the development of our proprietary, next generation pricing platform powered by agentic AI development
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and agentic AI systems to solve challenges across the business, including:
- Engineering dynamic risk models to deliver highly personalized and competitive premium structures that balance fairness with sustainable profitability
- Performing and developing the end-to-end reserving process, blending actuarial analysis with the continuous automation of our workflows
- Driving sales growth by developing and deploying Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) models to optimize our marketing strategies
- Drive machine learning and AI projects from project definition and raw data to deployed model and tracking of performance, with full end-to-end ownership
- Evangelize the power of data and AI by promoting your work to the team, stakeholders and Hedvig as a whole
- Be a driving force by always being on the lookout for new trends within AI, and Insurtech
What about you?
- The Foundation: You hold a Master’s. in Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
- Proven Impact: Relevant professional experience delivering ML models end-to-end in production, preferably in Fintech or Insurtech. Direct exposure to insurance pricing, actuarial frameworks, or credit risk modeling is a significant advantage that will distinguish your profile.
- The Generative Frontier: You are hands-on or experimenting with the modern AI stack, including LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, vector databases, and fine-tuning
- Agentic Thinking: You have a thirst for building and deploying agentic AI systems capable of complex, multi-step decision-making and tool-use within a business context
- From Foundations to Frontiers: You possess a deep algorithmic understanding of machine learning models - from classical GLMs and GBMs to Transformers. You use this knowledge to independently select, develop, interpret, and evaluate the most appropriate solutions for complex problems.
- Full-Stack Mindset: You are highly proficient in Python and standard DS libraries, with strong working knowledge of SQL and experience preparing, transforming and working with large datasets for ML.
- Production-Ready: Experience deploying and operating ML solutions in a cloud environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure), including model versioning, monitoring, CI/CD and best MLOps practices.
- The AI Advocate: You thrive in collaborations, translating problems into rigorous quantifiable solutions, and love evangelizing ML models and agentic AI
- Business impact: You independently validate models and interpret their performance to make decisions maximising the business impact of them.
Those are not hard requirements! If you have a different profile but you see that you have relevant skills and you think you can do a remarkable job, apply and share with us your motivation on why we should meet you.
What about us?
