Job Summary
The Product Marketing Manager I– Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) is responsible for developing and executing product marketing strategies that drive growth, profitability, and market leadership for Phoenix Contact USA's DIN rail-mounted UPS portfolio. This role serves as the strategic business leader for Phoenix Contact's family of UPS products, with accountability for portfolio growth, market positioning, product lifecycle management, and commercial success. Working closely with the Director of Product Management and cross-functional stakeholders, the Product Marketing Manager I leads portfolio strategy, product lifecycle management, go-to-market initiatives, market intelligence activities, and Voice of Customer programs. The position plays a critical role in identifying emerging market opportunities, developing, and executing growth strategies, supporting strategic customer engagements, and ensuring alignment between customer needs, product development priorities, and business objectives.
The Product Marketing Manager I serves as the primary liaison between Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain, translating market insights and customer requirements into actionable business strategies. This role is responsible for developing compelling value propositions, supporting pricing and competitive positioning strategies, enabling successful product launches, and driving commercial effectiveness through sales enablement and customer-focused initiatives. The successful candidate combines strong business acumen, strategic thinking, technical aptitude, and customer focus to deliver sustainable portfolio growth, strengthen Phoenix Contact's market position in the UPS market, and create long-term value for customers and the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute growth strategies for the Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) portfolio to achieve revenue, profitability, market share, and business growth objectives.
- Create and maintain portfolio roadmaps aligned with market opportunities, customer needs, and organizational goals.
- Identify new market opportunities, emerging applications, and growth segments for UPS solutions.
- Develop business cases and investment recommendations to support portfolio expansion and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, including sales, profitability, market share, and product adoption metrics.
- Recommend portfolio optimization strategies that improve business performance and long-term competitiveness.
- Lead product lifecycle management activities for the UPS portfolio, including new product introductions, product enhancements, portfolio rationalization, and end-of-life planning.
- Partner with Engineering and other stakeholders to support product development initiatives and ensure market requirements are reflected in product strategies.
- Facilitate alignment between business strategy, product development priorities, and customer requirements.
- Identify and recommend product improvements based on customer feedback, market trends, and competitive intelligence.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies impacting the UPS market.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to support strategic decision-making and portfolio development.
- Champion Voice of Customer (VOC) activities to understand evolving customer requirements and emerging market opportunities.
- Gather and synthesize customer, industry, and competitive insights to guide business and product strategies.
- Serve as the internal expert on UPS market dynamics, applications, customer challenges, and competitive positioning.
- Lead go-to-market planning and commercialization activities for new UPS products and solutions.
- Develop product positioning, messaging, and value propositions that clearly differentiate Phoenix Contact's UPS offerings in the marketplace.
- Ensure successful product launches through effective cross-functional planning, communication, and execution.
- Support pricing strategies through market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and customer value assessments.
- Develop marketing requirements and support promotional initiatives that drive customer awareness and business growth.
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of commercialization and marketing activities.
- Create and maintain sales enablement tools, product training materials, and customer-facing collateral.
- Support sales teams by providing product expertise, competitive positioning guidance, and market insights.
- Collaborate with sales teams to identify customer challenges and develop application-focused solutions.
- Participate in strategic customer engagements, customer visits, industry events, trade shows, and trade associations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for UPS products, applications, and market solutions.
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as the product marketing representative across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Customer Support, and Supply Chain functions.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects that improve business performance, commercial effectiveness, and customer experience.
- Facilitate effective communication and alignment among stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
- Build strong relationships across global and regional teams to support strategic portfolio initiatives.
- Act as a key contributor to annual business planning, strategic reviews, forecasting, and growth initiatives.
- Identify and implement best practices that improve product marketing effectiveness, customer engagement, and commercialization success.
- Support organizational knowledge sharing and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide informal leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Product Marketing team members and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of product marketing processes, standards, and operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- MBA or advanced business-related degree preferred.
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in Product Marketing, Product Management, Marketing, Business Development, or a related field, preferably within industrial automation, power electronics, power management, or industrial technology markets.
- Demonstrated success managing product portfolios and driving business growth through strategic product marketing and commercialization initiatives.
- Experience developing and executing product launch strategies, go-to-market plans, and portfolio growth initiatives.
- Strong understanding of market analysis, customer segmentation, Voice of Customer methodologies, competitive intelligence, and product lifecycle management.
- Experience developing product positioning, value propositions, pricing strategies, and sales enablement programs.
- Proven ability to translate customer requirements, market trends, and business objectives into actionable product and portfolio strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, project management, and business case development skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to travel via airplane for up to 14 hours
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time
