Full description

We are seeking a Data Engineer to build and maintain X-Rite Pantone's data infrastructure, enabling data-driven decision making across our Software Engineering and Product organizations.

The role focuses on collecting, integrating, transforming, and exposing data from software development processes, digital products, cloud services, and connected measurement devices. This includes engineering metrics, product usage analytics, application telemetry, quality metrics, release information, customer workflows, and measurement data.

The successful candidate will work closely with software engineers, product managers, quality assurance engineers, application support teams, and data consumers across the organization to create scalable data platforms, reliable pipelines, and actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data lake architectures.
  • Integrate data from software development tools, including source control systems, issue trackers, test systems, CI/CD pipelines, and release management platforms.
  • Collect, process, and model telemetry, analytics, and measurement data generated by X-Rite Pantone software products and connected devices.
  • Design and maintain data models that enable product analytics, engineering insights, and business reporting.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions for engineering, product management, and leadership teams.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, reliability, and traceability across all data sources.
  • Establish monitoring, alerting, and operational practices for data platforms and pipelines.
  • Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, QA engineers, and data scientists to define and prioritize data requirements.
  • Provide clean, well-documented, and consumable datasets for analytics, machine learning, and reporting use cases.
  • Support data governance, security, and privacy requirements.
  • Continuously improve data platform scalability, performance, automation, and developer experience.

Required Qualifications & Professional Knowledge

  • Strong experience building and operating data pipelines and data processing systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one modern programming language such as Python, C#, or Javascript/Typescript.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience integrating data from APIs, databases, log streams, and cloud services.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and storage technologies.
  • Ability to analyze stakeholder requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
  • Understanding of software development processes, including source control, CI/CD, issue tracking, testing, and release management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with global cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS data services, esp. Redshift and Glue
  • Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms.
  • Experience working with software engineering metrics, DevOps analytics, or engineering effectiveness initiatives.
  • Experience processing telemetry, IoT, or device-generated data.
  • Experience supporting machine learning or data science workflows.
  • Familiarity with software development tools such as GitHub, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with DBT
  • Experience working in geographically distributed teams.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or a related technical role.
