Job Description
Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our CDD technology team within Group Economic Crime. In this role, you will be part of our global feature squads involved in building our new CDD platform as well as maintaining our existing application stack as we migrate functionality over to the new platform. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams as part of the feature squads to design, develop, and build functionality that drives efficiency in Business processes via increased automation along with a marketing leading UX in KYC.
To be successful as a Java Developer, you should have experience in:
- Java programming and knowledge of OOPS and JVM concepts.
- Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring Integration), SQL.
- Microservice architecture and Restful API / web services.
Some other highly valued skills include:
- UI/UX, React, HTML/CSS/JS.
- DevOps – Monitoring and tooling like ELK and App Dynamics, Build and Deployment tools, Docker, Kubernetes, Load Balancer principles, Experience working on highly scalable applications.
- Database and Messaging - SQL (Joins Indexing Transaction), SQL Queries, Query Optimizations etc.
- Caching /Messaging experience – Kafka, Solace.
