Job Description:

Job Title: IT QE Manager - MPP

About TJX:

TJX is a Fortune 100 global retailer where technology powers millions of daily transactions across thousands of stores. At TJX India in Hyderabad, you will join a high‑impact engineering hub modernizing mission‑critical systems into a secure, resilient, Azure‑native ecosystem. We foster a culture rooted in engineering excellence, autonomy, and enterprise‑level influence.

What you will discover

  • A leadership culture that values clarity, accountability, and technical depth
  • A global technology organization collaborating across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia
  • Opportunities to lead one of TJX’s most strategic modernization initiatives
  • A high‑trust, high‑performance environment where engineering leaders shape enterprise direction

Our Organization:

As the Senior IT Engineering Manager – StoreWeb Modernization, you will lead engineering execution for one of TJX’s most transformative programs. You will build and lead a high‑performing engineering team in India, define the modernization roadmap, and ensure the safe evolution of legacy StoreWeb systems into cloud‑native, API‑driven, observable, resilient services. You are both a people leader and a hands‑on technical influencer—your decisions will shape modernization velocity, engineering standards, and cross‑team execution.

What You Will Do

Lead the Quality Engineering function

  • Own and evolve the QE strategy for the MPP portfolio, aligning testing practices to merchandise planning priorities, product roadmaps, engineering delivery, and business risk.
  • Establish consistent MPP testing standards, test governance routines, quality gates, traceability expectations, and reusable assets across manual and automated testing teams.
  • Guide test planning, estimation, scope, execution, defect management, release readiness, and test closure across concurrent MPP initiatives, enhancements, integrations, and production releases.
  • Use risk-based testing to prioritize critical planning workflows, data movement, batch processing, integrations, reporting, cross-banner variations, and non-functional requirements.

Drive automation and engineering excellence

  • Define and execute the MPP automation roadmap with emphasis on maintainability, reusable regression coverage, data-driven validation, and faster feedback for business-critical planning capabilities.
  • Promote shift-left quality practices and integrate automated testing with CI/CD delivery pipelines, environment readiness, and deployment validation where appropriate.
  • Guide teams in selecting fit-for-purpose approaches for UI, API, integration, database, batch, regression, end-to-end, performance, and production validation testing.
  • Encourage responsible use of modern tooling, analytics, test data techniques, and AI-assisted testing to improve quality, speed, transparency, and learning across the MPP QE organization.

Govern quality and release readiness

  • Establish meaningful quality measures and dashboards, including defect trends, test coverage, automation effectiveness, escaped defects, and release risk.
  • Lead defect triage and root-cause analysis practices; ensure risks, dependencies, blockers, and mitigation actions are transparent.
  • Provide evidence-based quality recommendations for release readiness and Go/No-Go decisions.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Operations, vendors, and merchandise planning business stakeholders to resolve systemic quality issues and improve delivery predictability.

Lead delivery in a SAFe Agile environment

  • Provide QE leadership across Agile teams and large programs operating within a SAFe environment.
  • Ensure QE is represented in PI Planning, backlog refinement, iteration planning, system demos, retrospectives, and Inspect and Adapt activities.
  • Align capacity, test environments, test data, automation priorities, dependencies, and release commitments across teams.
  • Balance strategic capability building with predictable execution of committed work.

Develop people and capability

  • Lead a large or multi-team QE organization supporting the MPP portfolio, including manual testers, automation engineers, test leads, vendor partners, and matrixed delivery contributors.
  • Set clear goals and expectations; conduct performance evaluations and provide timely, specific, and discreet feedback.
  • Coach, mentor, and guide Associates on technical capability, delivery ownership, collaboration, and career development.
  • Plan workforce capacity, recruitment, onboarding, succession, skills development, and assignment of work.
  • Create an inclusive, accountable, learning-oriented environment in which team members can challenge assumptions and improve practices.

What You Will Need

Required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Progressive experience in software quality assurance or quality engineering, including leadership of enterprise testing across complex merchandise planning, retail, data, integration, or platform-based applications.
  • People management experience that includes goal setting, performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, career development, and guiding teams in day-to-day delivery.
  • Experience managing large, distributed, or multi-disciplinary teams with both manual and test automation capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience defining QA/QE strategy, testing practices, automation frameworks, governance routines, quality metrics, QE dashboards, and continuous improvement plans for enterprise portfolios.
  • Hands-on understanding of functional, integration, system, regression, end-to-end, database, API, batch, performance, reporting, data reconciliation, and production validation approaches.
  • Experience working in a SAFe Agile environment and partnering across multiple Agile teams or an Agile Release Train.
  • Ability to communicate quality risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to technical, product, business, and senior leadership audiences.
  • Strong analytical judgment, problem solving, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.

Preferred qualifications and experience

  • Exposure to Mainframe applications and batch-oriented processing.
  • Exposure to Oracle RPAS, merchandise financial planning, assortment planning, allocation, forecasting, or other enterprise retail planning platforms.
  • Exposure to IBM TM1 / Planning Analytics.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL-based data validation, and testing of data-intensive integrations.
  • Experience with retail, merchandising, merchandise planning, planning analytics, supply chain, finance planning, or other large-scale enterprise domains.
