Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst, Cost Accounting based in United States.

The Senior Financial Analyst, Cost Accounting will play a key role in building and scaling cost accounting capabilities within a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position combines cost accounting, FP&A, financial modeling, profitability analysis, and operational decision support. You will help establish scalable allocation methodologies, strengthen financial controls, and connect operational drivers such as membership growth, staffing, and vendor spend to financial outcomes. The role will also provide leadership with clear insights into market and product profitability, investment decisions, and opportunities to improve margins. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to standardize processes, introduce scalable technology, and move reporting beyond spreadsheet-dependent workflows. Success requires strong analytical judgment, technical financial expertise, and the ability to explain complex financial results to non-finance stakeholders. This is an opportunity to help shape financial infrastructure and influence strategic decisions in an evolving organization.

Accountabilities:

  • Direct cost accounting policies, controls, and reporting to support financial performance, growth objectives, and effective decision-making.
  • Design, develop, and scale cost accounting frameworks, including expense allocation methodologies across business segments and legal entities.
  • Deliver market- and product-level profitability analysis that enables leadership to identify margin optimization opportunities and improve financial performance.
  • Support the financial mechanics of intercompany arrangements, including cost allocations, transfer pricing inputs, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain driver-based financial models connecting membership growth, staffing decisions, vendor spending, P&L performance, and cash flow.
  • Support or own cost-related monthly close activities, including accruals, allocations, budget and forecast variance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Develop reporting that emphasizes underlying business drivers and actionable insights rather than simply restating financial results.
  • Build business cases and ROI analyses for vendor decisions, build-versus-buy evaluations, market expansion, and headcount investments, and monitor performance against original assumptions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to continuously improve and standardize financial policies, processes, and controls.
  • Identify opportunities to automate financial workflows and transition reporting from spreadsheets into scalable, self-service technology and BI solutions.
  • Provide market, network, and clinical teams with the financial education, tools, analysis, and supplemental reporting needed to manage cost performance effectively.
  • Own or support responses to applicable audits, examinations, regulatory inquiries, and compliance-related requests.

Requirements:

  • 5–10+ years of experience in finance and/or accounting, with demonstrated hands-on experience in cost accounting.
  • Strong expertise in cost allocation methodologies, cost center design, unit costing, product-level costing, and the ability to clearly document and defend financial calculations.
  • Solid FP&A and/or accounting background, including budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, variance analysis, cost accounting, and management reporting.
  • Advanced financial modeling capabilities and comfort working with large, complex, or imperfect datasets.
  • Experience using AI, business intelligence platforms, ERP systems, planning systems, or similar technologies to support financial analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop or implement cost allocation models and financial frameworks, including building such models from the ground up when needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into clear business insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain financial results and concepts to non-finance stakeholders and respectfully challenge assumptions when the data does not support a proposed conclusion.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and processes are continually being developed and improved.
  • Healthcare services and/or health insurance experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred.

Benefits:

  • Annual salary range of $58,000–$125,000, with the actual offer determined by factors including qualifications, relevant experience, specific skills, education, certifications or licenses, and location.
  • Employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance, with low or no premiums.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • $100 monthly mobile or internet stipend.
  • Stock options available to all employees.
  • Bonus eligibility for eligible roles, excluding Director-level positions and above.
  • Commission eligibility for eligible Sales roles.
  • Parental leave program.
  • 401(k) retirement program.
  • Additional total rewards and employee support resources for eligible full-time employees.
  • Opportunities to work on scalable financial infrastructure, technology-enabled reporting, and strategic business analysis within a healthcare environment.
  • Professional growth opportunities through exposure to cost accounting, FP&A, financial modeling, profitability analysis, and cross-functional decision-making.
