This role is responsible for leading current-state discovery, establishing the target-state identity and governance operating model, developing end-to-end migration runbooks, and directing technical teams through rehearsal and production cutover. The Migration Lead also provides technical oversight for implementation engineers while ensuring structured cross-party stakeholder alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical assessments of Azure Repos, multi-stage YAML pipelines, self-hosted build agents, extensions, and external dependencies.

Migration Planning & Governance

  • Develop comprehensive migration artifacts, including detailed runbooks, testing strategies, cutover checklists, and rollback plans.

  • Manage project risks, issues, assumptions, decisions, dependencies, and client action items.
  • Provide direct technical guidance, task allocation, and quality review for hands-on Azure DevOps implementation engineers.

Stakeholder Management & Delivery

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison across multi-party client stakeholders, engineering leads, and external partners.
  • Facilitate technical workshops and discovery sessions to translate technical findings into actionable execution plans.
  • Produce executive-ready status reports, technical architecture documentation, and post-cutover stabilization summaries.

Required Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of experience in DevOps engineering, cloud infrastructure, and technical project leadership.
  • 4 or more years of hands-on experience administering and configuring Azure DevOps Services.
  • Proven track record planning and executing complex Azure DevOps organization, project, tenant, or identity migrations.
  • Deep technical knowledge of Azure Repos, YAML pipelines, self-hosted agent pools, service connections, and secure files.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, including user/group RBAC, service principals, and modern authentication protocols.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps REST APIs, Azure CLI, PowerShell, or equivalent scripting tools for discovery and automation.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating technical workshops, managing client expectations, and translating business requirements into migration strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing enterprise tenant separations, divestitures, or corporate acquisitions.
  • Familiarity with JFrog Artifactory integration and MATLAB / Simulink build toolchains.
  • Experience supporting embedded software engineering build environments and pipelines.
  • Background in professional services, management consulting, or technical advisory delivery.

Core Skills & Attributes

  • Strategic architectural mindset paired with hands-on technical validation and review capabilities.
  • Exceptional client-facing delivery, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational leadership to manage complex risks, dependencies, and cutover timelines effectively.
  • Clear, precise verbal and written communication across both engineering teams and leadership.
