Technical Product Writer
Super Bright LEDs is a leading innovator in the LED industry, committed to providing cutting-edge lighting solutions to our customers. We are seeking a talented Technical Product Writer to join our Web Content department. This position combines technical writing and e-commerce copywriting to create clear, accurate, and engaging content for our diverse range of LED lighting products, accessories, and solutions. In this role, you will craft compelling and grammatically precise long-form and short-form technical content for our websites, including product pages and category descriptions, as well as specification sheets and product manuals. This role develops and manages accurate, user-friendly technical documentation for our LED product lines and implements and maintains content standards across manuals, installation guides, and product descriptions to support end users. The ideal candidate has a strong technical writing background and a passion for creating clear, concise, and engaging content; can translate complex technical information into clear documentation; and is comfortable working hands-on with products to verify procedures and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Translate complex technical information into easy-to-understand content for diverse audiences, including end-users, installers, and sales professionals.
- Write product descriptions, feature highlights, and technical specifications for our websites, marketing emails, technical documentation, and other forms as needed.
- Proofread and edit content to ensure clarity and coherence while regularly reviewing and updating existing content to reflect product updates, new features, and new industry standards.
- Use AI and other content tools to improve efficiency in drafting, editing, research, and content optimization while independently reviewing and verifying all information for accuracy, clarity, brand alignment, and originality.
- Work with Product Managers and the Test Lab to turn complex technical features and product benefits into simple selling points with a technical tone.
- Conduct research within the lighting industry and eCommerce, and collaborate across departments to execute findings into content creation.
- Research, validate, and produce technical documentation, user manuals, and installation guides
- Ensure consistency and clarity in technical publications across all user-facing materials
- Create digital copy that is consistent in style and tone, and aligned with business objectives, brand, and marketing messaging.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, Communications, or a technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in writing for technical products or services.
- Deliver a technical writing style for a range of audiences.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to optimize content development, followed by reviewing information for technical accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent strategic thinking skills and ability to apply them to content writing.
- Working knowledge of electrical schematics, components, and systems is preferred.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Jira, and/or Confluence is preferred.
- A portfolio of work demonstrating rich, compelling, and unique writing samples for products or services is preferred but not required.
