Description

Thomann Asphalt Paving Corp is seeking an organized and proactive Junior Project Manager to join our Paving division. This role will connect our office, estimating team, suppliers, and field crews.

You will support projects from award to completion by securing town/municipal permits, ordering job site materials, tracking project data in our management software, and performing regular site visits. If you are detail-oriented, enjoy a blend of office administration and field action, and want to build a career in construction management, this is the perfect role for you. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

What You'll Do

  • Permitting & Compliance: Coordinate with local WNY municipalities and authorities to secure required work, road, and environmental permits before project start dates.
  • Procurement & Logistics: Order, schedule, and track deliveries of paving materials, site supplies, and equipment rentals to ensure crews have what they need on-site.
  • Estimating to Field Handoff: Work closely with the Estimating team to transition won quotes into active project workflows, submittals, and schedules in our system.
  • Site Visits & Quality Checks: Visit active job sites throughout Western New York to verify material deliveries, check progress, and support field foremen.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a central point of contact for suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to keep project timelines moving smoothly.
  • Cost Tracking & Admin: Assist with budget monitoring, change order documentation, invoice matching, and general project paperwork

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Environment: Split between a professional office setting and outdoor job site environments (subject to weather conditions).
  • Physical Demands: Standard office physical demands, plus the ability to safely walk active construction sites, climb stairs, and occasionally lift to 25 lbs

Position Type & Travel

  • Type: Full-Time, Monday through Friday (occasional extended hours based on seasonal business needs).
  • Travel: Local travel required within Western New York for job site visits, permit pickups, and vendor meetings.

Requirements

  • Experience/Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, or a related field is a plus (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience with project management software or databases (like FileMaker) is a huge plus.
  • Skillset: Outstanding organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with asphalt, paving, or civil construction terminology is advantageous, but we are willing to train the right candidate on the "Thomann Way."
  • Valid Driver’s License: Required for local job site visits and permit runs.

Benefits Include:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Life, LTD, and STD Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Sick Leave
  • 8 Observed Paid Holidays
