The Data Analyst is a dedicated IT reporting resource whose sole purpose is to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable reporting to the broader organization. Sitting within IT and reporting to the CIO, this role acts as the primary technical bridge to Finance and Operations, translating business reporting needs into queries, stored procedures, and polished dashboards and reports. The ideal candidate combines strong SQL and data engineering fundamentals with confident business acumen and interpersonal skills to work directly and credibly with business leaders across the organization.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the organization's dedicated reporting resource, owning the full lifecycle of report and dashboard development from requirements gathering through delivery and maintenance.
- Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures against ERP and operational databases to support reporting, analytics, and data extraction needs.
- Design, build, and maintain reports and dashboards using tools such as Data Rails, Tableau, Power BI, and SSRS.
- Partner closely with Finance and Operations leadership to understand business questions, define reporting requirements, and translate them into reliable, well-documented technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain Epicor ERP reporting, including custom queries, BAQs, and extracts that support financial and operational decision-making.
- Present findings and recommendations directly to business leaders and stakeholders, clearly communicating technical concepts in business terms.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reports by validating source data and reconciling against ERP and financial systems.
- Maintain documentation for data sources, report logic, and stored procedures to support long-term maintainability and knowledge transfer.
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline recurring reporting processes.
- Collaborate with the CIO and broader IT team to align reporting infrastructure with overall data governance and CMMC/compliance requirements as applicable.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Business Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience writing SQL queries and stored procedures in a production business environment.
- Hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards with one or more of the following: Data Rails, Tableau, Power BI, or SSRS.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with Finance and/or Operations stakeholders, including gathering requirements and presenting results to non-technical audiences.
- Strong business acumen with the confidence to engage business leaders as a trusted partner, ask clarifying questions, and push back constructively when requirements are unclear or data doesn't support a conclusion.
- Solid understanding of relational database concepts, data modeling, and report/dashboard design best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to executive and business audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Epicor ERP reporting, including BAQ development and Epicor's underlying database structure.
- Experience in an aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other regulated/compliance-driven industry.
- Familiarity with financial reporting concepts (P&L, budget vs. actual, project/program cost reporting) sufficient to partner effectively with Finance.
- Exposure to data governance, CMMC, NIST 800-171, or similar compliance frameworks.
Key Performance Indicators
- Establishes trusted working relationships with Finance and Operations leadership as their go-to resource for reporting.
- Delivers a prioritized set of standardized, accurate reports/dashboards replacing manual or ad hoc reporting processes.
- Develops working proficiency in Epicor data structures sufficient to build and support ERP-sourced reporting independently.
- Builds documentation and repeatable processes that reduce reporting turnaround time and single points of failure.

- This position operates within a precision manufacturing environment supporting the production of mission-critical aerospace and defense components. Success requires a high sense of urgency, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple departments to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations and customer delivery commitments.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, including walking the production floor, climbing stairs or ladders, occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds, and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
