Job Description
The Software Project Manager will lead North American software development for Electric Power Steering projects.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead software development activities within the project organization
- Define, track and align project plans and release schedules to successfully manage all software development activities
- Drive technical clarifications to implement customer requirements and defined technical content according to project targets
- Interface with external and internal customers for all software related topics
- Interface with platform group for updates on the latest technology and development activities
- Plan and lead development activities in different locations and regions
- Work in close cooperation with the project manager and other function leads (system, hardware, mechanical) to meet all customer needs and milestones
- Support defining the project budget and lead team to meet targets
- Track software issues and ensure timely and effective problem resolution
- Prepare and reach approval for software releases and quality gate reviews
- Interact with the production plant during development to ensure proper handover and exchange with manufacturing
- Ensure conformity to the development process and define acceptance criteria
- Report project status and metrics
- Support assessments and audits to verify applicable quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or relevant engineering degree
- 4+ years of experience in automotive embedded software development
- 2+ years’ experience in project management or leadership role
- Working knowledge and deep understanding of software development lifecycle and processes
- Decision making abilities in complex, highly dynamic situations
- Experience with customer interface
Preferred:
- Experience working in a safety critical systems environment (ISO26262)
- Hands-on usage of project management and work item tracking tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Agile development methods
- Strong organizational competence and social skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to enable and motivate project teams
- Aptitude to multitask in a dynamic workplace
