About the Role
The Senior Data Engineer supports the implementation of Signant Health's products and services to meet customer’s needs. This position is responsible for working with other data management staff and internal project team members to ensure on time and accurate deliverables; implementing assigned programming/analytical tasks; performing unit testing; documenting his or her work according to accepted quality principles; and supporting testing.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assume responsibility for the design, development and on-time delivery of project specific configurations and customizations
- Work directly with the external and internal clients to prepare, adapt, or agree on all specifications
- Create and document system design specifications and other technical documents as required
- Understand and follow all coding standards
- Create robust, well documented code
- Create database objects as required
- Complete unit testing and peer review documentation as required
- Support test script development and performance of user acceptance testing
- Support all phases of testing by efficiently diagnosing and resolving defects
- Recommend, design and implement on-going application and architectural improvements
DECISION MAKING AND INFLUENCE
The Senior Data Engineer role will interact with internal and external stakeholders in order to provide to our internal and external clients with extracts to reduce uncertainty, discover (new) relationships between data, separate signal from noise to help and assist in taking the better- informed decision.
To achieve these results, the Senior Data Engineer role:
- will be required to make decisions on the best technical approach in order to implement the client's requirements
- will use his knowledge and skills to come up with solutions and ideas to meet internal and external client's needs and expectations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
Essential:
- 8-10 years of professional experience programming
- Experience with some or all of the following technologies:
- Microsoft SQL Server2008/2012/2017/2019 MySQL or other relational databases including stored procedures, views and triggers
- Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services or other reporting tool
- Team Foundation Server, Visual Source Safe, Subversion or other source control product
- Experience developing, enhancing and customizing configurable applications is desirable
- A mentor roll to those who are junior on the team
- This role will be a SME for Data Engineering,
- Domain experience in any of the following is desirable:
- Mobile device applications include Smartphone and Tablet
- Electronic Data Capture applications
- Clinical Trial Management Systems
- Experience estimating development and support tasks
- Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 or experience in a regulated environment desirable
Desirable:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to complete high quality technical documentation
- Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and organization in all aspects of work
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new skills, procedures and approaches
- Demonstrated ability to meet very short deadlines & multi-task in an extremely fast-paced work environment with little direct supervision
- Proven ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment, providing back-up support to team members & establishing/maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers within and across functional areas
- Previously demonstrated proactive and positive approach to tasks and projects overall, as well as to the types of scheduling & process changes that are inherent in a fast-paced business
