As an Underground Technology Technical Program Manager / Product Owner, you will be instrumental in ensuring delivery of a high-quality product.

The MineStar Underground systems are used in an integrated mine environment, to enable autonomous machine operations, production recording management and monitoring in underground mining applications, using onboard and offboard software and systems.

You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach enterprise team members, and deepen your professional network.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of autonomy capabilities across multiple engineering teams
  • Develop and maintain program plans, milestones, and release roadmaps.
  • Partner with Product Management to define, prioritize, and continuously refine the engineering backlog, balancing customer value, technical debt, architectural investments, and program dependencies to drive predictable delivery of strategic autonomy capabilities
  • Partner with global engineering leaders and product stakeholders to define capability roadmaps.
  • Partner with customers, product leaders, and engineering leadership to understand business priorities.
  • Ensure alignment between product strategy, engineering delivery, and customer commitments
  • Drive execution of capabilities from requirements through development, validation and production release.
  • Drive collaboration across geographically distributed teams.
  • Coordinate activities across Product Group, Engineering, Systems Engineering, Base machine software, Validation and Product Management.
  • Translate customer and business requirements into executable engineering plans.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, implementation, testing, and release readiness.
  • Identify and manage technical and schedule risks.
  • Drive mitigation plans and escalation processes.
  • Manage cross-team dependencies and critical path activities.
  • Facilitate program increment planning, release planning, and roadmap reviews.
  • Define, implement, and maintain standardized program delivery processes across engineering teams.
  • Ensure consistent adoption of Agile/SAFe practices, backlog management standards, planning cadences, and release governance.
  • Monitor process compliance and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance delivery efficiency and predictability.
  • Establish program metrics, reporting mechanisms, and operational reviews to support data-driven decision making
  • Communicate program status and executive-level updates
  • Drive lessons learned, retrospective reviews, and corrective actions
  • Manager the Feature delivery of two small teams
  • Manager delivery teams feature and user story backlogs
  • Plan as part of PI Planning a 3 month delivery of features as per backlog priority
  • Flag any risks to agreed delivery timelines early
  • Contribute to mitigation plans for any risks to timelines

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in an accredited Engineering field.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Program management experience
  • 3+ years Mining Experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Good communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles, design patterns and autonomy.
  • Work independently and to communicate with others in a variety of work environments.
  • Self-motivated to solve problems and guide changes.
  • Familiarity with Interfaces, Database, Microservices, Middleware and Linux OS

​Travel: To Caterpillar Proving Grounds or customer site as required (up to 20%)
