Full description

About the Role

Data Elephant is a boutique data and AI consultancy serving clients across energy, mining, legal, sports/entertainment, and logistics. We're hiring an Intermediate to Senior Software Engineer to join our team.

This is a hands-on, client-facing consulting role on a fast-moving project that is remote in Canada.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build an executive-ready application on Databricks Apps, translating stakeholder needs into a working product
  • Build BI-style visualizations and reporting components suited for an executive audience
  • Contribute app/product thinking to a prioritized use case backlog and help scope future implementation phases
  • Participate in client workshops and weekly status reviews, communicating technical progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Apply AI/ML capabilities where relevant to enhance the app

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience, with some exposure to data engineering or data products
  • Experience in full-stack development including APIs, CI/CD, and front-end tools such as React, NextJS or Typescript
  • Experience building internal tools, dashboards, or applications on top of data platforms - Databricks Apps experience is a strong plus, but experience with other low-code/no-code app frameworks (Retool, Streamlit, Power Apps, etc.) is also valuable
  • Comfort working with BI tools (Power BI preferred) and translating raw/early-stage data into executive-friendly visuals
  • Some familiarity with AI/ML concepts and applying them in applied, product-oriented contexts
  • Strong communication skills - this is a client-facing consulting role
  • Bonus: experience in energy, mining, or other industrial/resource sectors

Thank you for your interest. At this time, only applicants based in Canada will be considered.
