Full description
EBS is a rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company and part of Alarm.com. Alarm.com is the leading cloud-based platform for smart security and the Internet of Things. More than 7.6+ million home and business owners depend on our solutions every day to make their properties safer, smarter, and more efficient. We’re innovating new technologies in rapidly evolving spaces including AI, video analytics, facial recognition, machine learning, energy analytics, and more.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader on our mobile team, building and shaping the Alarm.com Android application used by millions of customers every day to secure and manage their homes and businesses. Our mobile team works on the full spectrum of features including real-time video streaming, IoT device controls, security system management, and smart home automation. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will drive the design and implementation of complex technical solutions, mentor fellow engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions that impact our mobile platform at scale. Typical projects will involve diverse technologies like Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android media frameworks for video streaming, and backend API integrations. Exceptional problem-solving skills, the ability to lead technical discussions, and a track record of delivering impactful, production-quality software are must-have attributes. You must communicate effectively across teams and demonstrate ownership over features from conception to delivery. Very few companies innovate and develop across such a broad range of technologies as Alarm.com. This position is ideal for the candidate who seeks a collaborative, people-first company culture where one can work closely with smart and highly productive people across wireless, software, and hardware/device technologies to develop outstanding consumer products.
We are building a new team in Krakow. Our employees work fully from the office with the possibility to work remotely occasionally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design and development of complex Android features for our flagship mobile application used by millions of customers.
- Own the full project life cycle — from requirements and architecture to deployment — with deep cross-team collaboration with iOS engineers, backend teams, QA, and product managers.
- Architect and implement real-time video streaming features using Android media frameworks, including HLS/RTSP/WebRTC protocols and native NDK/JNI integrations.
- Define and champion best practices for responsive, performant UIs following Material Design guidelines and modern Android architecture patterns.
- Drive the research, evaluation, and adoption of new Android technologies and methodologies to solve complex project goals and improve platform-wide code quality.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pair programming.
- Contribute to cross-functional architecture decisions that affect multiple teams and long-term platform direction.
- Exercise strong technical judgment — knowing when to move fast and when to invest in robust, scalable solutions.
- Bring your ideas! We want our senior engineers to help shape the product roadmap, not just build to a spec.
- Other duties as assigned
