Full description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Project Manager based in the United States.
This role leads the successful delivery of large and complex professional services implementations for government clients. You will own projects from planning and budgeting through go-live, transition, and post-launch review. Working across technical, operational, and customer-facing teams, you will keep delivery aligned to scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations. The role combines project leadership, risk management, customer relationship management, and cross-functional coordination. You will bring structure and visibility to complex engagements while proactively addressing risks, dependencies, and scope changes. Your work will directly support customers in adopting technology that improves government services and community outcomes. This is a remote U.S.-based opportunity with significant customer interaction and travel of up to 50%.

Accountabilities: As the owner of the end-to-end professional services delivery process, you will lead complex engagements while maintaining strong customer relationships, financial discipline, and delivery transparency.
- Manage projects from initiation through completion using established project management methodologies, including planning, budgeting, resource coordination, and workstream management.
- Lead cross-functional project teams and ensure alignment across consultants, architects, PMO, cloud operations, product, support, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Own project scope and Statements of Work, proactively identifying changes and converting them into formal change orders when required.
- Monitor project health to drive on-time and on-budget delivery, tracking progress, budget burn, completion percentages, risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
- Maintain RAID logs and develop appropriate mitigation strategies while following defined escalation paths.
- Establish transparent project reporting and track key delivery metrics such as on-time go-live rates, budget variance, time-to-go-live, and SLA attainment.
- Conduct regular budget-burn reviews to identify at-risk engagements early and communicate project health to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage project records and delivery workflows in Jira and Confluence, maintaining dashboards, filters, customer documentation, configuration decisions, go-live checklists, and retrospective notes.
- Support traceability between project issues, development activities, configuration repositories, and deployments by contributing to tooling and integration requirements.
- Own go-live readiness reviews and ensure structured handoffs to Customer Success and Support with clear acceptance criteria.
- Lead lessons-learned sessions after go-live and incorporate findings into implementation processes and playbooks.
- Serve as the primary project-level escalation point for customers and internal stakeholders, supporting executive steering committees when needed.
- Track customer-side dependencies such as workflow decisions, approvals, testing participation, training schedules, and configuration sign-offs, escalating blockers proactively.
- Coordinate closely with counterpart project managers on joint programs to align milestones, dependencies, scope, and shared risks.
- Support business development initiatives, including proposal development, project scoping, and budget estimation.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate combines strong project leadership experience with technical literacy, commercial awareness, and the ability to navigate complex enterprise and government environments.
- At least 5 years of experience leading successful implementations of COTS software or platform-based solutions for Tier-1 government clients, or comparable experience navigating complex, committee-driven stakeholder environments.
- At least 5 years of experience managing complex projects with budgets of $1M+, durations of 12+ months, and involvement from multiple government departments or stakeholder groups.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously across different stages of delivery.
- Demonstrated experience owning project budgets, monitoring burn, and managing scope discussions directly with customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or a comparable technical degree program.
- Strong understanding of enterprise software delivery and sufficient technical literacy to interpret configuration repositories and workflow diagrams.
- Experience using formal project management tools such as MS Project, Visio, or comparable platforms.
- Working proficiency with Jira and Confluence, including building boards, dashboards, and saved filters rather than simply managing individual tickets.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing customer demands and complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with C-level and executive stakeholders.
- Ability to quickly understand and apply new technologies, methodologies, and delivery practices.
- PMP certification is preferred, along with demonstrated expertise in selecting appropriate strategies and tools for planning and tracking complex projects.
- Knowledge of permitting and licensing processes is desirable.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Benefits:
- Annual base salary of $140,000–$160,000, depending on factors such as location, education, skills, training, and experience.
- Eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on company and individual goal achievement.
- Flexible time off.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Family planning benefits.
- 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match.
- Health Savings Account with company contributions.
- Flexible Spending Account.
- Life, accident, and disability insurance coverage.
- Business travel insurance.
- Employee assistance and other well-being programs.
- Remote-based position within the United States.
- Collaborative environment focused on meaningful work, connection, and work-life balance.
