Position Overview
The Sales Engineer is responsible for developing new business, expanding existing accounts, and serving as a trusted advisor for mission‑critical power generation solutions. This role requires strong technical understanding of industrial generators, transfer switches, temporary power applications, and maintenance requirements. The Sales Engineer will manage a defined territory, engage customers on‑site, and deliver tailored solutions that ensure business continuity for industrial and commercial clients.
Responsibilities:
- Generate new sales opportunities through prospecting, networking, site visits, and relationship development.
- Sell industrial generators, ATS units, temporary power solutions, and related equipment.
- Assess customer facilities and power needs; prepare detailed proposals, quotes, and project scopes.
- Present turnkey power solutions, including equipment sizing, job‑site assessments, and application recommendations.
- Manage and grow existing accounts, including service contracts and long‑term maintenance relationships.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and field service teams to ensure accurate installations and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, follow up on leads, and track sales activity.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitive offerings, and new generator technologies.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in industrial generator sales, power generation, or related equipment industries.
- Understanding of electrical distribution equipment, load requirements, and temporary power applications.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable solutions for customers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the assigned territory.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
- Self‑motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a field‑based role.
- Consultative sales approach with the ability to deliver credible technical guidance.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and project requirements simultaneously.
- Frequent travel to customer sites, industrial facilities, and job locations.
- Ability to lift 25+ lbs and work indoors/outdoors as needed.
Preferred:
- Experience selling industrial generators, HVAC/power rental equipment, or mission‑critical systems.
