Data Scientist
Role Summary
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our team and help develop machine learning and AI solutions that support our customer operations.
The role combines NLU, machine learning and experimentation, with a strong emphasis on preparing high-quality training data and understanding what drives model performance. You will develop and improve NLU models, build solutions using structured and tabular data, implement new pipelines, and evaluate emerging techniques and approaches.
This is an opportunity to work across the full machine learning lifecycle, gain hands-on experience with production AI systems, apply research to real business problems, and help bring new ideas and techniques into production.
Responsibilities
- Build, evaluate and improve machine learning models and pipelines.
- Prepare, generate, curate and validate datasets from SQL and other data sources.
- Design and run experiments to improve model performance and measure outcomes.
- Develop machine learning solutions using both text and structured data.
- Investigate new research, techniques and tools and apply them to practical business problems.
- Work with stakeholders to understand problems, deliver data-driven solutions and communicate findings.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals, model evaluation and experimental design.
- Proficiency in Python and strong SQL skills.
- Understanding of data preparation, feature engineering and data quality.
- Ability to reason about machine learning model performance and identify the factors that affect outcomes.
- Good understanding of AI assistant tools, including their strengths, limitations and appropriate use.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn and develop as a data scientist.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
- Experience with NLP, NLU or text classification.
- Experience developing machine learning models using structured and tabular data.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, MLOps concepts or model deployment.
