The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for establishing and leading the Quality Engineering capability across multiple engineering teams to ensure software products are delivered with speed, reliability, security and customer confidence. The role champions a quality-first engineering culture by embedding quality throughout the Software Development Lifecycle rather than relying on end-of-cycle testing. The Quality Engineering Manager enables engineering teams through automation, engineering standards, coaching, test strategy, AI-assisted quality practices, and continuous improvement. This role partners closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Architects, Platform Engineering and Security teams to ensure quality is measurable, automated and continuously improving while supporting rapid, predictable software delivery.The incumbent is accountable for developing high-performing Quality Engineering teams, implementing modern engineering practices, driving continuous automation, improving developer experience and ensuring quality is built into every release.This is not the traditional people management only role. The Quality Engineering Manager sits on the intersection of automation implementation, shift left best practices, enterprise quality strategy and people management.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field
  • ISTQB Advanced Test Manager, Certified Agile Tester or equivalent certification is advantageous
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Certifications in Cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP), DevOps, Kubernetes or Security are advantageous, with strong exposure to Cloud technologies
  • Demonstrated understanding of AI-assisted software engineering and Quality Engineering practices
  • 8–12 years' experience within Software Quality Engineering or Software Engineering
  • Minimum 3–5 years leading Quality Engineering teams in medium to large enterprise environments
  • Proven experience implementing Quality Engineering strategies across Agile product teams
  • Proven experience implementing Automation frameworks (web, mobile, api, pact)
  • Proven experience with integrated automation into SAP
  • Strong exposure to performance testing and frameworks
  • Experience establishing automation frameworks across UI, API, mobile and integration layers
  • Strong experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with cloud-native applications, microservices, APIs and event-driven architectures
  • Experience implementing Shift Left and Shift Right testing practices
  • Experience with Test Data Management, Service Virtualisation and Environment Management
  • Experience working with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Security and Platform Engineering teams

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?

  • Establish and continuously improve the enterprise Quality Engineering strategy, standards, frameworks and governance model
  • Increase automation coverage across unit, API, integration, UI, performance and regression testing while embedding testing into CI/CD pipelines
  • Improve software quality by reducing escaped defects and increasing release confidence through continuous testing and quality metrics
  • Drive adoption of modern Quality Engineering practices including Shift Left, Shift Right, AI-assisted testing, Test Data Management, observability and engineering tooling
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Platform Engineering and Security teams to ensure quality objectives support business outcomes and delivery commitments
  • Establish engineering quality metrics and drive continuous improvement using data, automation and operational insights
  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing Quality Engineering team through coaching, mentoring, succession planning and performance management
